polishing blue fox spinners?

Got a dozen or so blue fox spinners that are getting tarnished blades. I believe they are nickel blades. Any tips for getting a little more of a shiny luster on em'?

I always use CLR to clean up spinners or spoons. Alot of the time I keep a few all tarnished up for low water. My old dirty spinners worked better on the quillayute this year then out of the pack for salmon.

Back to the spinner question....what is CLR and where do you get it? Also, I'm well versed on tarnished spinners...use em' on summer-runs in the right conditions but I need some help on my other spinners that I DON'T want tarnished.

You can get it at almost any hardware store. Also which is just as good is never dull. The never dull I have is really old so I dont know if they even sell it anymore but I would definetly call around for it. Its like cotton with pollish on it, it works killer for making anything metal shiny again. Anyways good to hear from you and by the way if ya' find a lefty drop me a line, especially if it has magnetic cast control.

Never dull is still in business (I think). We used it in the military to shine brass. it still comes in the same colored can from years ago. Any silver or brass polish should work however.

If there is awoodworking store nearby they should carry polishing compound. The compound is used to keep carving tools and chisels polished. Another use for it is to put some of the polishing compound on the back (rough side) of a leather belt. When you sharpen your knives with either a stone or ceramic sticks use the belt and polishing compound as a strop (sp)...it really will put a killer polished edge on all of your cutlery by removing that fine wire edge that forms from sharpening. A little off the topic but I am in the process of sharpening all my knives today so it is fresh on my mind.

Another, perhaps easier, suggestion is to use plain baking soda. Make a thick paste from water and baking soda. Smear it on your spinner blades, let it set for a few minutes, and polish it off with a damp rag.

But don't be gentle. Scrub hard and sse some real "elbow grease" to polish them and your blades will look almost as good as new. For very tarnished blades, a second or third polishing might be needed. Rusted blades are usually beyond hope.

Blue Fox blades are primarily silver plate so they respond well to baking soda polishing.

Try using Semi-Chrome metal polish. You can find it at Fisherman's Marine in Portland,OR. If no luck there try a rock polishing store.
