Inflatable vests.... - 12/30/00 01:31 AM

I have found myself close to taking a swim in some fairly rough waters while bank fishing in the past. I am wondering if I could get some feedback on inflatable vests. Has anyone actually had to use one? They seem like a lot of extra weight. Any comments pro or con would be appreciated. A favorite brand or style might help in my decision. Thanks in advance...

I have a Stormy Sea's vest that I wear in my boat, or in my float tube. It is a fly-fishing cut, so it is not bulky and doesn't hang low on my back. I guess it would work fishing on shore. Better than taking a trip under water with no floatation.

corkie, my younger sister works for stormy seas ,and they sell awesome inflatable vests and jackets. I've got them made all the way down to fit my 4 yr old son. Very light ,not bulky, you wouldn't even know you are wearing one. They also make some awesome fleece fishing jackets with grundens rain gear sleeves and neoprene cuffs. peace-fishaday

Thanks for the info. I checked out the Stormy Seas web site and will call to see if I can find their gear at a local store for a closer look. Tight lines...
