Ok, Slab blows off a little steam because the state doesn't set the opener around his job schedule. I guess they should have called him so he could check his calendar.

I am retired and I really don't care when they open any season. I go during the weekday to avoid the crowds. I wish I was fishing out there right now, but then the state didn't call me to check whats going on in my life that prevents me from being there now.

However, I will be on the water at odark30 next Tuesday. But if the weather keeps me on shore or my boat breaks down you can bet I am going to whine on this board because it messed up my schedule.

Slab, I hear you, but the fish really don't care about a weekday or a weekend. Just fish when you can and enjoy.

I guess I could complain because I have to cancel my Buoy 10 trip because of a family emergency, but I won't, or just did I?

Because I know you, your post actually made me laugh. I guess for those that don't, they might not get that you're just venting. I, too missed out on the opener this year because of the timing of it. But, fortunately, I went to Neah Bay after the 4th and got my fishing in there.

Hey my friend who's a teacher (and can fish mid-week during the summers) fished the opener and he and his family picked up 8 kings from Midchannel up to 22 lbs. Good luck out there... there's fish around!

Dave, I know....I posted some pics a couple of weeks ago and the one I'm using for an avatar all came to papa whilst the State Gods had things shut down.
So I'll just go out this weekend with the rest of the grunts and keep my 10 (for the five days). I'll even post punch 'em.

Speak'n of "a bit pissed off", as I'm planning a few fishing trips for the next month or so, and checking the local Crik's already bizarre openings and closures for salmon, guess what?

A new regulation was snuck in closing the middle section, the only real float boat section of the river. It has now been closed starting August 1st, and then closed through the middle of September!!! There must be way too many chinook C&R'ed and killed by the trout fishing folks that fish that stretch in August.

No trout, steelhead, or all other species, period end of story! However, the regulations as newly written, appear to be vague and poorly written allowing a possible interpretation allowing someone with a good lawyer to possibly beat the rap if caught.

1st Saturday in June opener for the rivers is BS!!! Let's bring it back to the June 1st opener!!!!!

How's 'bout that old timey Saturday of Memorial Day weekend opener for the summer stream season? And all waters are open unless specifically listed as closed? What's with all this conservation and allocation stuff anyway?

And for the record.......I'm legal. It sucks, but that's the way it is in my house or boat.
The "fillet and release" comment came from a guy who I showed some of the pictures to and then told him I released them all. But, hey, I thought it was funny.
