Lots of Yotes in these here parts. Had some in the yard the other night on a fresh rabbit kill and they woke up the city girl GF. She asked what was I going to do about it and I rolled over and went back to bed.

That being said, I have a Short Tailed Weasel / Stoat creeping about. The neighbors chickens are just about besides themselves. Talk about little murdering, thieving bastards. Anyone got a solution besides a hatchet?

Well, Eastern gray squirrels are my burden in life. They're chasing out the local Douglas squirrels & trying to get in my attic. I thinned the herd with a live trap, a chainsaw & a plastic tarp. Learned that from an old trapper in the Okanogan. He used his car exhaust.

I suppose I could do a "contained poisoning" but I don't like the risk to other animals, so I'm stumped...and I can kill anything.

Havahart live trap. Use a can of tuna or chicken meat for bait. They are curious so easy to trap. They are considered fur bearers so you need a permit to
Deal with them legally. I have a long tail weasel living in a wood pile . Love watching it. Turn him loose way way back in the woods near water . They drink a lot.

Weasels are cool. I agree with the live trap- find out how he is getting in and put it in the path. You can create obstructions to funnel him towards the trap if necessary. These previous baits are good but I can recommend cat food, leftover sand shrimp, peanut butter and raw chicken as well. Sometimes you just have to mix it up until you figure out what they want... If you don't catch him the first night, try changing baits.

The pic of the bear was taken in a no hunting area and was no threat to anyone, pretty funny he was right behind the target. We have seen other bears wandering thru the property. Later that morning my son was in his tree stand in the National Forest about 15' up and a bear came snooping around two times at the base of the tree he was in, stayed for 15 minutes. As he had used some scent to attract deer he could not take a shot, the bear seemed to see him but was not threatening. He felt that he had several good opportunities to drop him but decided not to because of the scent he had used. He was pretty pumped up.

Coming off the BI ferry on 305 about 6:15 tonight, as we reached High School Road, a young coyote ran from newly cleared property, across the road & into a McDonald's parking lot. He looked well fed.

Stonefish when you were young you used to lay around in the bushes looking for meat. The skirted kind. Hahahah
