I needed to buy more shotgun powder this spring at one of the upcoming larger trapshoot's (or have someone get it for me), but those are now canceled! So I've been shopping online this week for the best bulk pricing. All the while I noticed bulk loaded shotgun shell supplies dwindle, plus my desired powders became harder to find or they were getting rationed.

So I pulled the trigger on 32#'s of powder this morning, and that should last me and the boy for the year maybe 2, depending on how much fishing we do instead of shooting. I bought 35K primers last month from a guy from Goldendale, which doubled up my inventory. Have a couple of tons of shot, so we're good for a couple of years for trap, upland birds.

Man, sure wish I could get out and shoot enough to burn 32lbs of powder in a year!

Went to sportsman’s the other day to see if there was any magnum pistol powder left, been wanting to work up some hot .45 colt loads for my Redhawk. It was like pulling teeth to just show me what powder they had in stock. Everyone was just telling me “we barely have anything, probably not what you’re looking for” ok, just show me what you do have then! Finally I got one to open the safe and spotted a 8lber of H110, so that one came home with me. Probably will last me 10 years or more, but don’t have to worry about finding more for a long long time.

I’m well stocked on rifle powder, good thing as most of what I shoot is obsolete commercially or hard to find at the store anyway.

CM, I try to look online at CL and a few other NW based for-sale sites once a week for misc reloading goodies. Every now and then I find something that suites my shotgun needs. The day after I posted, I picked up another 6K 209 primers and 5#'s of Red Dot locally. I will use the powder, and a friend was just asking about primers so I'll pass them on to him.

I vacillate between buying new shotgun shells in bulk or just keep reloading. Even though once I factor in the price/cost of my time, I know I'm WAY ahead just making a bulk purchase out of state and get several pallets of new shells. BUT, I have (3) progressive reloaders and I keep procuring enough components at relative "discount" pricing that I trick-[Bleeeeep!] myself that I'm below the cost of purchasing new shells. In actuality, I just can't break the stigma of being a reloader for 35 years (and being frugal as well).

Does this mean a run on .22 ammo again too? God, I hope not! We don't even shoot them much (and I can shoot at the house), but I'm not a hoarder of rifle stuff. Have enough .22 ammo for a couple of fun-day blasts, but punching paper isn't my thing. Frustrating when things get out of control (especially when you prefer to be in control of things, so I've been told..lol).
