I've been watching the WW2 in color series on Netflix, the restored footage of the fighter planes is insane. I think they were pretty well done and concise. I am in search of a good WW1 documentary next. Any ideers?

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

WWII fighters are some of the coolest airplanes there ever were. I'm not really a WWII buff, but I do like the history of the time and the military hardware.

As you might expect, there's little good footage of WWI action, same with living witnesses, so it's not as easy to put a documentary together as it is with WWII. I thought this one was pretty good, though - https://topdocumentaryfilms.com/the-first-world-war/

The Panzer tank and aircraft carrier and ship footage of kamikaze pilots flying directly into boats is insane in the Greatest Events of WW2 on Netflix. I recommend. I read the book Band of Brothers and love the series.

A friend of mine once wrote to Maj. Dick Winters of Easy Company and he wrote him back and sent him an autographed photo that my friend Alex had sent him and wrote the words " To Alex-Hang Tough. -Major Dick Winters."

It hangs in his living room and is the single coolest fvcking thing I have ever seen as far as memorabilia goes. I have my grandpa Fred's ,retired Lt. Col ,WW2 bayonet. The world's greatest generation. Those guys are fkn John Wayne to me.

The Peter Jackson documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old is a very good WWI film. The bonus feature that shows how the footage was restored is worth watching also.

Yes - huge WWII buff here, but lately I've been more on a WWI kick. Would rather watch a b&w documentary on WWII than just about anything else on TV. I just finished watching the Battle of the Bulge documentary and it was damn good (the doc, not the movie).

Speaking of documentaries and not to shift gears, but Apollo 11 (2019) is hands down the best doc film I've ever seen. It is intense. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

AS I recover from my blown apart ankle I binge-watched Victory at Sea. B&W, grainy, not up to today's "Production Values", but really vey interesting. Even had a number segments of the Germn, Italian, and Japanese side of the war.

Had a good friend who piloted 17s in Europe. He had a lot of interesting stories, few associated with combat but more personal interest about what went on.

I sat on a concrete pillbox in a farm field just outside of Bastogne and got baked. Then I sat there and imagined Panzers and Sherman tanks rolling across the countryside.

It was a pretty cool moment.

The next day I was watching Formula One cars rage around the Spa circuit in the Ardennes forest.

I've been watching The Pacific War in Color on the Smithsonian channel.
Amazing stuff and for sure the greatest generation.

No family members of mine served in WW II, but I have an bunch of cool stuff from my dad's service in Korea.

Not a big buff but went and saw Midway at the theater last month and enjoyed it. My wife liked it too which surprised me. The animation made it look like there were alot of planes in the sky. I've seen a picture of the Japanese Admiral visiting at PSNS before Pearl Harbor. Saw the trailer for 1917 but didn't get to see it.

I went to Pearl Harbor in 2017 to the Arizona Memorial and again in 2018 went on the Mighty Mo for my second time. Took the family to see it back in the 90s when it was in Bremerton. Went to the Wright Patterson Museum in 2017 and 2018 and got to see a lot of planes.

The best WWI documentary I've seen is...."The First World War". 10 part mini series. It's excellent and very detailed. Available on Prime or watch for free on IMDB.

I have "The War" by Ken Burns via PBS....outstanding. But I've spent more time learning about the Civil War....youtube has some excellent videos about battle strategies.
