See you there,

I'm in!!! I'll be in the area for 23 days that month. Maybe not all on the Hump, as I have other places around there I like to fish as well.

I haven't heard but will assume everyone in the boat must have a ticket. We don't need the fiasco that plagued that other Salmon derby!!

It looks like everyone who's at the weigh in on Saturday will be getting either a Rvrfshr spinner and/or spoon to use on the second day...and Dave at the Humptulips Store will hopefully have a full stock of Rvrfshr lures and hooks if one isn't enough smile

Fish on...

never been to the hump. can prolly put a team together. drag the Db down. how hard of row is it? and is there a shuttle there. just curious.

Re: Humptulips Salmon Derby !!! - 09/09/09 11:42 AM

Hybridcx,

Easy DB float; watch someone else go thru the boat chute at Stevens Ck hatchery if you're unsure about it. There is a shuttle service. I have several phone numbers, but I'm unsure which ones will be active this season. Maybe Fly will post more about this.

Re: Humptulips Salmon Derby !!! - 10/17/09 10:28 AM

NOAA forecast on stream flows peaking today ( around 1 pm ) and then most dropping. Depending on location some really drop by Monday. Hump could bounce around a bit but flows are going down overall but this weekend it is iffy until Sunday.

"When the wind is in the east, fishes bite the least."

Not sure what part of the world originated that axiom, but I'm sure it applies whenever I get skunked on a day with an easterly wind.

A friend of mine used to complain about east wind and I used to think he was making excuses however after spending many a fruitless day on the water under this condition I'm now convinced there is something to it.

Re: Humptulips Salmon Derby !!! - 10/18/09 10:28 PM

Had the east wind factor explained to me by an old dory fishermen out of Pacic City years back.

He said rowing in against the east wind was 10 times harder then what it was with a west wind. So why would you fish during a east wind?

Made since to me.

To this day, I cant catch fish during a stong east wind.

That bastard put a curse on me 40 plus years ago.

Re: Humptulips Salmon Derby !!! - 10/18/09 10:44 PM

Winds from the East fish bite the least, from the West is best, North dont go forth and the South blows it in their mouth...something like that I believe;)
