Teds sport Center has been around for years locally owned and very knowledgeable plus Mike is just a good guy! But I live in Wenatchee so over here Hooked on Toys and High Mountain are both great shops.

It used to be holiday sports in burlington but they have since gone expensive ..when they opened up their new store. Now it has to be wholesale sports in burlington..definitely cheaper.

Barrier Dam store, pretty good selection and prices for a relatively small store.

I'm liking Ted's more & more for gear.
Used to like Outdoor Emporium, but liking them less & less every year that goes by.

For fly materials, locally The Avid Angler or Puget Sound Fly Co.

On line - Barlow's, Saltwater Edge, Stillwater, Bear's Den and Red Truck Fly Fishing.

I'll second the Defiance boat shop as a new favorite tackle shop. They aren't fully stocked yet but have inventory you need without having a thousand shiny packages of stuff you'd never want.

Dennis Company.

Elma, Monte, Aberdeen, and Raymond.

It is in my town, and has most of the stuff I use. The prices are higher than Sportco, but not enough to justify driving there.

Are you looking for shops to sell your floats? If so, you might consider supporting/advertising on this site and giving a few away to members in exchange for honest feedback...free PR is always a good thing.

Re: whats your favorite tackle store? - 10/13/10 09:08 AM

Really great to see that there are so many quality local tackle stores for us hard core anglers.

In these tough economic times it is good to see the quality stores surviving. Of course they continue to need our support if we are to continue to have such access for gear "fixes" to our passion/addiction.

A big +1, I remember the first time I walked in there when I was about twelve, had a 4wt and 10 bucks and wanted to know what I needed to catch SRC's on a flyrod...Long story short I walked out of there with 20 flies and some great ideas on how to fish them, Dave is the man.

Also another shout out to the Forks Thrifty...always a decent selection for those "oh [censored] i forgot (fill in the blank)" moments.

Re: whats your favorite tackle store? - 10/15/10 11:52 AM

Phoenix77, sorry for the lack of reply and glad someone else picked up the ball and gave the address for the Defiance Boat store. It is just north of the Bremerton National Airport on Highway 3. Coming from Tacoma, take the Highway 3 south exit from Highway 16 at Gorst. The shop will be on your left after you pass the drive-in theater. If you get to the stoplight at the airport, turn around because you went half a mile too far. It is a good shop now and only will get better as they fet fully stocked.

Re: whats your favorite tackle store? - 01/28/11 07:38 PM

I most often shop at sportco due to it being 3 min from my house... however I am continuely finding they are out of stock of the tackle I need and it takes them months to restock...whether it be spoons, floats, jig heads, or hooks. Also have found a much bigger selection/variety at some of the smaller tackle shops than is offered at sportco when it comes to steelhead tackle specifically.
