Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/14/11 07:37 PM

Wondering percentage of divorced guys on this board and if fishing was ever blamed in any way for the failed relationship. Live in girlfriends count and any of you Homos can play too.

I'll start. Found out it was happening to me the day I got back from a trip to Kodiak.

Came home from springer fishing to find the apt cleaned out, and my wife of 8 mo. gone. (This was quite a few years ago...)

Married 18 years and had the fishing bug long before she ever came into the picture. I did warn her well in advance about the fish called Steelhead and my addiction to them.

When I got married I was still guiding. Any women smart enough to marry a fishing guide who was gone 6 months out of the year is a keeper!

18 years now, and she still kicks me out of the house because I have an attitude and tells me to go fishing.

She keeps me fat and happy. I plan to keep her around for many more years.

I met my wife to be 52 years ago at a college dance when I was fresh out of the Navy. She told me about catching her first Steelhead and I was hooked.

We will celebrate our 50th anniversary in June and if I live another ten years, I'm looking forward to our 60th.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/14/11 08:59 PM

My first wife knew of my addiction to hunting and fishing when we were married. In fact on our wedding day, Nov 20, 1960, it was what we called "doe day". NOTHING kept me from hunting on doe day. It snowed 6" inches that day in Centralia, the wedding was at 3:00. We got back at noon with two deer.

Nine years later she arranged for me to take the wife of friends of ours steelhead fishing several times that winter. Of course why this arrangement was made never occurred to me until much later. She divorced him and I divorced her.

And, yes, I have always taken some of the blame. Absence makes......

My present wife doesn't really care how much I fish and or how long I'm gone......Hey, wait a minute!

Been married just under 7 years and waited til I was 46 to do it. I told her at that time I could give up fishing and hunting but then I would have to take up drinking and chasing woman again.

She buys me fishing and hunting stuff for Christmas, BD"S and never complains about my being gone, hey wait a minute!

She has never scheduled me to go out with one of her married woman friends so I guess I'm safe....

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/14/11 09:33 PM

Been married almost 4 years now. Its about 50/50, 50% of the time she bitches, the other 50 she doesn't. Its more about the money than the time, but she married me with the addiction. We never went on a honey moon. Instead, we went to alaska the week before we got married and harvested 38 tidewater kings to 45lbs, got drunk, chased bears and knocked one off in a Super 8. What a woman aaah! I've taken her out steelhead fishing in Oregon with 3 ft. of snow and bone chilling temps and she took it like a pro. She's fallen in the river in the middle of the winter and I made her keep fishin. Topper is I've been laid off from the shipyard since March now and have fished or hunted about 100+ days of that and haven't got the boot yet. I think I got a keeper. Shot an 8 1/2 foot cougar on thanksgiving that cost a few grand to get mounted and still goin. She's got her horses and I have my fishing and hunting, as long as it stays that way, we'll grow old together. Interesting thread.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/14/11 09:39 PM

I'm one of the lucky ones. Been married 21 years.

Within the 1st month of marriage she was standing in the Quilleute hooking fish with no boots (September). She didn't land any but she was hooked.

2nd year we got into a bunch of Kings one weekend on the Quilleute. She went home that Sunday with a 40lb & 25lb. Lost one we guessed that was over 50lb (wish those days were still around). I spent most of my time re-tying for her after she broke them off. She was really hooked. Guys in boats were watching us saying "wish my wife could see how much fun your wife is having" etc. In those days very few women were fishing.

Now she takes off weeks at a time to fish 1 of the local rivers every year. I had a good weekend on the coast this past year for Coho. She wanted to know when I was going back to get more.

Guys on the river she frequents joke with me about who gets her if I croak. When I told one of them I had a life insurance policy he said "not only would he get my wife but he'd get a knew boat out of it as well".

Yup, I'm lucky.

I am goin on year #1 later this month. So far so... well OK I guess, not great by any means though. Springer season sure puts a lot of strain on our relationship though, see how this season goes. We been togethor 11 years now. First 4 or 5 years she would fish in all weather conditions, camp in the rain, watch football, give lots of blow....ah nevermind. Now she wouldn't do that stuff even if I beg. Plan on movin my trailer down for the springer season, try to cram 20-30 days on the water, looks like we get a short season this year. See if shes there when I back.

As the late and great Sam Kennison use to say... I was in hell for 15-f&%$in years! Yes fishing certainly contributed, but it got me outta hearing a bunch of crap..

Didn't re-marry and no plans anytime soon. Now I have to beg her to stay home!

It is a godsend not to hear, "I am cold! Run me to the marina so I can pee. I am not enjoying myself... etc." My only complaint is unloading the boat- SHE BRINGS EVERYTHING. Well, at least she enjoys going and I enjoy the company.

The Good Wife Pam and I have been married for almost 33 years (July) and I do not yet see an end in sight. I think it has more to do with patience and tolerance and being willing to adapt to get along than anything else, but could easily be wrong. My Grandma Sarah said, "Rick, you just flat lucked out." and she could be right.
My fishing buds who are divorced are pretty good guys, so all I can say is, "the wifes's loss." They shoulda' learned to fish.

Better throw my sorry ass into the aggregate stats so Achewter can make his GD point. Yeah I got dumped in no small part thanks to the fishing bug. Got served my big "D" papers the same year I put the F/V eyeFISH into service.

20 years and four kids after saying I do, a judge finally signed my legal release papers.

28 months to go before my accountant signs the real-life release papers.

Starter marriage lasted 10 years .. .turned out she wasn't the same kind of crazy as me. . . .my getting back to hunting and fishing and doing my thing like I used to had a definite hand in the decision (it was mine). .. . . The current woman (going on our 4th year) is great, doesn't fish much, knows I like to and best of all our crazies match up pretty well .. . .

THe first wife bitched every time I tried to go fishing or hunting without her, and when I took her, it was even worse, so much so I almost gave up. Finally kicker her out the door 2 years ago.

Now gal encourages me to go, buys me gear and the best part was when I took her to the Kenai for the first time this Summer she looked at my buddies brand new Predator and said " You need one of those so we can go fishing more"

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/15/11 02:34 PM

OK.... that's more like it.

The trend is at least looking more and more like the nat'l average for the big "D". I figured it might be even higher as nearly EVERY one of my hardcore fishing friends has been thru it at least once.

When you think about it, why do we even commit to monogamy against such long odds? The repeat offenders that have three or more marriages under their belt really perplex me. How do they rationalize that somehow the next one will be different?

How many of you would still fly on a plane if the odds of crash&burn were similar. Imagine the pilot's voice on the intercom right before it leaves the ground, "Thanks folks for flying with us, but there's a 6 in 10 chance we're going down."

If love was a plane, nodoby'd get on.

To the rest of you that have maintained happy life-long relationships.... my hat's off to you.

20 years still married but ...

When we met I wasn't into fishing until I met her dad. He would give her fillets. Then she encouraged me to go fishing with him. Their family used to go fishing quite a bit when they were young and she didn't like it. Her mom used to catch a lot of fish.

Well my trips got longer and more frequent and I didn't call everyday. She also complained about my time on this board. I took my son with me quite a bit until he discovered girls.

She likes to get shellfish but hates fishing. She did arrange and go on a couple of charter trips in the Sea of Cortez. She likes to camp or go to the beach but not the river.

Now she encourages me to go. If we do end up parting I'll be doing a lot more fishing.

Just need to "pick the right lady"......When we were going together, we lived in Belleuve.....would take a 2-man raft to the Quincey area, blow the raft up.....then fish most of the day.....so I knew she was a keeper.

Married 1963, even stayed at Fishermen Bridge in Yellowstone, and fished the next day. Learned early in my marriage "not to be gone to long" and did that most of our marriage. Its why I live where I do, most of my fishing was done in 3 or 4 hours....gave me lot's of family time.

I will miss Barb very much......Rest in peace!!!!!! Thanks for being a great mother, wife, homemaker, and my best friend. Died from cancer, 1/09/2011.

Condolences DrifterWA. Sounds like a wonderful woman. Hope you can find Strength and Grace in this difficult time.

13 years together, going on 7 years hitched.
From where I'm standing, our relationship isn't perfect (whose is?), but it IS strengthening over time; I think she would agree.

We went to Ucluelet on our honeymoon, she nailed a 43lb king nearly as long as she is tall. We've fly-fished E. WA lakes, pulled plugs in rain-filled sleds in AK, numerous king/ling days in Puget Sound. She's a good sport, but strongly prefers fair-weather outings; I can manage that.

Our son is 4 1/2...she's very supportive of future 'dad & son' fishing trips.
She likes the 19' Arima, but thinks we need a bigger boat.
She really loves those SeaSport 2200's...

I'll place myself in the "Lucky" category.

Been married for almost 7 years to a great girl. She discovered a passion for running so she understands my passion for fishing. So much so that when I sheepishly showed her a photo of the boat I wanted to buy all I got was a high-five. Now I get made fun of if I dont go fish often and the only time she beotches at me is when I give away too much crab or too many fish. Her Dad and I are close buddies now too, so everyone has won thus far. And thanks to the running she is in damn good shape too.....

One morning while I was en route to the river. I happened to be surfing the AM radio, I tuned into this Marriage counselor who said the #1 question he's asked is "How do you know if you've found your soul mate"? He said there's no such thing...if you ALWAY"S make the rite decisions, you'll have bliss in your marriage.

It's been two years now since I heard this. And it's been working very well so far.

Thanks to my Beautiful wife, for her Love & Patience.... 22yrs this May.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/16/11 10:10 PM

Spent almost 27 years with my first wife. Came home from work a couple years back to an empty closet and a Dear John note. She hated anything to do with fish or fishing so my addiction didn't help.

In hindsight it was probably the best thing even though it was hell going through it.

A year later I met the "right one". She LOVES fishing. Loves being on the boat. Handles her own rod and nets a fish like a pro. Just today she was wishing the rivers were in shape so we could spend the day on the water.

Like was mentioned above...just gotta find the right one. thumbs

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/16/11 10:38 PM

We lived together for five years and were married for fifteen. As mentioned before I would do it all over again for the promise of three such amazing kids! She and I were best friends but I made it very clear, before we married, that I would leave her for fishing and hunting if she ever gave me the ultimateum.

What I didnt expect is that she would "find religion." I lost her to a social network that supported her completely and by the end she actually felt sorry for me that I was ONLY a lost soul or cannon fodder for armageddon. Ya...

She was a great gal when we met and for most of our marriage. I tried to end it amiably and wanted to be friends again. She claimed that I was an unfit parent because I was "emotionally dependent on my kids." Try to figure that one out. The judge gave her 90% of the community assets because I had seperate property. Consequently, I lost everything- kids, dog, house, retirement, friends, future, etc.

That was two years ago... I get a HUGE pay raise in two more years. The gal I am seeing now is ten times more mature, WAY more attractive but challenges me everyday! ADVICE- avoid the redheads because my hair is going gray! Obviously I am a sucker for strong women. Life is good!

There are so many experienced, heart felt posts I don't know where to start.
Given the overall maturity most of us start with in marriage it is almost a miracle that any of us wind up with marriages intact, I include myself in the lucky group. My Grandma would agree that "I just flat got lucky."

I do notice a couple of trends. People who stay married tend to just accept and not try to change each other; and they try to be good partners for the other, and so are willing to change. I didn't make this up and can provide scientific references if anyone wants them.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/17/11 12:15 PM

Yep...add me to it...was married 11yrs, we were together 17. She was a very good fishing and hunting partner for about 15yrs. I kept becoming more and more addicted to killing birds/big game and chasing fish all over the NW.

She could shoot trap, call ducks, had her own lab, plus she could back up a pickup-camper with the 20' boat at Chinook on Labor Day weekend better than most boat owners. Eventually, she told me she didn't care about me and moved on. Hurt like Hell....that was 5 yrs ago. Got re-married 1.5 years ago. I've changed some, and the new one seems jsut as cool. So..we'll see...

I was married 9 years. Fishing was an issue but not the reason. Been divorced for 7 months and went hunting and shrimping for the first time this past year. Before it was, "since you fish, you are not "allowed" to hunt."

Met her @ age 27 told her I fish every weekend and I will not change, but could slow down a bit with kids.It was her second and my first marriage. After 15 years together and being married for 10 of those(I made her wait) my youngest daughter is 14 ya get the picture we are going strong as ever and she rarely bitches about my fishin, actually she used to go with me all the time until she was dianosed with MS after that she kinda gave up fishin and does her own things like scrape book / creative memory chit with the gals.Seems to me they try harder the second time around.Good luck,

Well three timer and one out on fishing, well my addiction to water. Then my second for 23 years. She went from Northern Australia to upper reaches of the Amazon to Fiji to the jungles of Nicaragua with me. Never bitched, well the tree limbs hung in the landing gear coming off that clay strip sorta, tough as nails miss her every time I fish someplace. Woman was fearless!

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 01/18/11 07:12 PM

Met my first wife in 1988 and married that same year. She knew I love to fish and in fact talked about how much she liked fishing with her Uncle who ran a charterboat for years out of Oregon. On our first date trip together I took her up on the boat from Edmonds to the San Juan's to fish the opening of Ling Cod. Ride up was smooth. Hit Haro Strait and it was rough. She lasted ten minutes and demanded to be taken to Friday Harbor. Should have got a big clue that things were not as she stated.

After 13 years of marriage she announced that she wanted to go to counseling. Met with the counselor who immediately acused me of having an affair. I never had an affair with anyone, then the counselor says that I have had an affair with fishing. All down hill from there.

We departed friends and still are today. We divided up our property around the kitchen table. She got what she wanted and I got what I wanted and we didn't care what things were valued at. Its a lot easier when you don't have kids and can be reasonable people.

Met my second wife 8 years ago and we have been married for almost five years. I love her to death and if there is anything to this soul mate stuff, she is definitely mine. I couldn't be happier. Now that we have been retired for six months and are 24/7 things are still great. But, I know she is looking forward to watching my arss leave tomorrow to work the boat show for the next ten days.

DrifterWA, all the best to you and my deepest condolences for your loss.

Steve Ng, your post is telling, hang in there!

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 02/04/11 12:11 AM

Lets see, got divorced from the first one in 2000, because I sent her to rehab...........probably should have gone myself, but someone has got to pay the bills right !!!

Then I became the olympia MILF Buster for about 2 1/2 to 3 years, and Damn was that fun and dirty.

then I met my match in the current Mrs. Fly and she had plans for me, been married to her for about 6 years now, everything is great, some of you probably saw us on the Hump this year, she was usaully holding court in the helicopter hole while we hammered Kings.
If I did not meet her my Dick probably would have fell off by now.
She's awesome and expects me to fish , hunt and generally act like a jackass so its all good in Da hood.

My wife also happens to be my best friend, we are both a couple of Freaks, which makes for a great relationship, and BTW if people think that I am some badass or whatever, I dont hold a candle to my wife, when we first met we were involved in a bar room brawl in Ellensburg and she knocked some dude out with her first punch and then asked his girlfriend if she wanted some, it was pretty much over at that point.

Peace

Met my wife at college in 1983. We were married in spring of 1989 and are still together..I've hunted and fished all of our marriage years and she did some of it with me before our daughter came along (19yrs ago). The last 10-12 years she has been quite tolerant of my passion for fishing that runs year round. Spring to fall is full of walleye tourneys around the western US and fall to spring is river walleye and steelhead time..Shes a great person, terrific wife and mother, and a better friend. We ran into our biggest life challenge this past Sept when she was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. The boats have been garaged since that day. I miss fishing but I won't miss any chance to spend time with her right now..Lifes been good to us so far and we're hoping for more of the same...

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 02/04/11 03:29 PM

Well, I got off to a good start with my wife when the time came to make it official. I bought her an engagement ring and she bought me a drift boat. 12 years and two kids later I still have carte blanche to fish one day a week and depending on the season get out more than that.

I work from home these days, so frankly I think she's more then happy to just to get me out of her hair.

When I sold the db and upgraded to a sled, I did get a little push back that she needed a similar upgrade to her ring, but thankfully I dodged a bullet and senitmentality won out over a new ring.

That's funny Fastwater. I've told a couple people that I met my current wife with an ad asking to meet a woman with a nice truck and boat, please send photo of truck and boat. She doesn't think it's as funny as I do, but she really does have a nice truck, and a good boat if you're into kayaking. And she likes to fish, in fair weather.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 05/21/13 03:53 AM

I date nice girls... Until they get all upset that I spend 12 months of the year on the water, and 4-8 of those are up north. At least 6 out of the last 10 years anyways. Funny thing about all that tho... The first thing I inform them of is the lifestyle. And lots of reminders when this get more involved...They all wanna play ball until they get emotionally bean'd.

But for now, the lady who calls me "hers" understands the lifestyle, and is 100% alright with it. Lucky? I dunno, maybe. I love her to death, but would absolutely understand if it didn't work out for her to keep me around. It's tuff not seeing loved ones but a few times during the summer and fall. And I'm greatful for everything she's provided for me. And she seems appreciative of what I provide for her, in return for endless tolerance.

Prolly wont ever make it official, but I scored pretty poorly on the divorce calc! Schit! Hahaha!

I lost most of my retirement, but have two wonderful boys and a house on the water that we enjoy the [Bleeeeep!] out of... I went from debt free and owning everything in my 20's, to eyeballs in debt I didn't know about in my 40's...

Marriage is really easy if you pick the right one.

I knew she was the one a week after we started dating. I bought a ring about two weeks later.

Been together 20 years and married 17. I can count on one hand, the times she has asked me not to go fishing/hunting/out with the boys.

She likes coitus and I generally get to knock the bottom out of her 4-5 nights a week.

She is very smart and has an outstanding job.

She is an incredible mother to our two kids.

I don't think I could find a woman better suited for me.

I've been married to Tracey 15 years this year, and while we have had our difficult times, they make the good times that much sweeter. She is a great Woman, Mother, and friend, and funny as hell. She lets me fish and go on trips pretty much whenever. She takes great care of me and leaves me feeling like a really lucky guy at the end of every day.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 05/21/13 09:10 PM

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a great wife who also fishes. That means she goes with me once and a while and has no issues when I take my 2-5 day trips.

Took her on a guided Steelhead trip this spring. We boated 8. Her 6, me 2. When we got done I could see the guide wanted to say something to her but was choosing his words. He finally told her that she was one of the best fisher-people he had had on his boat and she was welcomed back any time.

That being said. I'll only get married once.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 05/22/13 11:47 AM

Been married 13 years. An honest mistake on my wife's part.

We don't have that many shared interests, except for the most important one: We like being married to each other. I don't think we have ever had a fight that lasted longer than about 3 hours. Probably because I am whipped!

I'm lucky, a pretty woman, who takes great care of our little girls and is attracted to an irresponsible man-child.

I can't foresee the future, but right now I like where things are at for us.

Married 25+ years raised 2 great kids, paid off home, had some good years.Fishing was never the issue as balance is the key. It all came down to one person not wanting to address hormonal/mental issues.......Financially, Divorce is brutal but the piece of mind and enormous relief is out of this world. The relationship with kids is so much better now that I wonder why I waited so long. Now I fish and do what I want when I want and I like it!

Way to "turn that frown upside down" Parker! Glad to hear ya didn't get hammered, as so many guys do get bent over.

I too came out of mine financially unscathed. 50-50 down the middle for assets, kid, and debt (not much of it). I kept everything that was mine including house and acreage, truck, boat etc. Only thing I sold was the new camper and we split the cash on that. She got her stuff and the rental properties. Glad I had no maintenance or child support!!!

The wife and I damn near had identical incomes. Swap around who nows pays for their health care and add in the fatherly deductions do to days spent with the kids and voila. No child support.

Re: Who is on the Divorce list. - 05/26/13 04:09 PM

32 years for me this past week. Got married when I was 20. Had to find a young, naive one and get her married before she had any comparables - otherwise I'm afraid I would have been single forever. The key to all long marriages - set low expectations at the beginning. grin

The wife is and always has been a real keeper. She fished bluegills with me in farm ponds back in the old days and is willing to go out for salmon and tuna now. Doesn't need or want to go fishing but is usually willing to come along. She knows to look away when the guys are peeing over the rail and doesn't mind using the marine head. She's also tolerant of the inevitable potty mouth talk or innuendo that seems to be a part of nearly all discussions on a boat with fishing buddies aboard. She's willing to reel in fish but is also happy just to be on the water reading a book. With the enclosed cabin of my C-Dory Tomcat, fair or foul weather is not an issue and she's always willing to make the occasional sandwich or meal on the boat. She's willing to help with the fish processing and runs the vacuum packer and labels the bags. Doesn't have expensive tastes and tolerates me putting $'s into the boat and fishing.

She can run the boat but isn't that great at it. I swear if I ever went overboard with her at the helm, she'd probably go a mile or two before she realized I was missing. When it comes to driving the truck (even without a trailer attached) it's "don't even go there" - so I've given up on attempting that training. Still, I think I scored overall and I never thought about "trading up" or getting a divorce as in neither case could I do better than what I have now.

41 years, plus 4 years of dating. When we were dating, I'd show up at her place and tell her we couldn't go anywhere, but I'd bought a really cool reel that day that she needed to see! She thought I was a project. Took the drift boat to Orofino last weekend. Sled follows in a week or two, then 6 months of steelhead fishing starts, followed by two months of salmon. I guess I'm still a Project....

We've been together 17 years now and I can't help to think that if I strangled her when we first met, I'd probably just be getting out of prison right now. Like most people, we just got married because one day she called and said the doctor told her she was pregnant. My response was who's the father? She said the doctor didn't say anything about that part. It was then I knew I had a keeper.

Did you ever notice that women's younger sisters always lust after their older sister's man. One night before we got married, her little sister was standing there with a mostly empty fifth of whiskey in one hand, took me by the other hand, staggered down to her bedroom, flung her panties at me and propositioned me. She's younger, fitter and her tits were bigger so I thought about it for a minute, a real long minute, but then headed back to my car. Her dad was waiting for me at the car with teary eyes, whiskey sour in hand, .38 special bulging in his pocket, he said he was "happy I passed the test, finally his daughter had found a decent man and welcome to the family." I was speechless, all I could think of was good thing I keep the condoms in the glovebox.

We took a nice cruise for our honeymoon. When my wife asked me how I could afford such a luxurious trip, I told her that her father had bought the tickets. She remarked that was nice of him and wondered why he wasn't on the cruise ship. I said he's probably still at home looking for his tickets.

There is good and bad in life and in marriage, there always is a silver lining to every cloud. I come home and told her I wanted to relax and if anyone calls tell them I'm not home. Next thing the phone rings and the first thing out of her mouth was "my husband is home" so that's pretty bad right? That bitch never listens. Good news was the call was for her, not me.

Seriously though we were going to get divorced but we couldn't agree on it. I wanted to do it because I hate her because she is such a mean, nasty bitch. She wanted to do it because I can't satisfy her sexually. So to resolve it, we sought some advice from outside parties. My girlfriend says I can satisfy anyone but her, her boyfriend says nobody can satisfy her. My girlfriend says that our relationship she is the bitch but on the other hand her boyfriend says in their relationship he is the bitch. Therefore, we are still married.

I'll start. Found out it was happening to me the day I got back from a trip to Kodiak.

1 for 1

Yep I was married for a year, wife cheated on me. Pretty sure it was fishing related...I cared more about big chrome winter steelhead then I did her, so she went somewhere else... can't say I really blame her. Now I have a new girlfriend that I love a ton!!! I have learned to balance fishing and time with her a little better, but we will see what happens this winter steelhead season... hahaha!

I could leave her a love note for ya if ya wish. She lives across the bay from me and runs a small produce stand for fun. I do not know how single she is though. lol Seriously,
if she does not respond I could contact her for you.

You're a smart man. Hell I've run through a bunch of girlfriends. Not worth it even though I never married. Doc,did you ever tie the knot again?

Doesn’t the common law bs only if you live together?
My pro tip is don’t let them move in and keep your space yours, regardless of the law.

Take out bud!

Way easier then the act of eviction when they are in that mental state after receiving notice they’ve been put on irrevocable waivers.....

Over time it will add up,but the cost of grub hub will be far less than having a live in full time night woman!

Oh man, these days I just want to order some peace and quiet! My last girlfriend was cool she just had a lot of issues and was a big victim all the time. Gets old. Do something about your life and quit complaining.

Lately regarding cooking I admit I order door dash (not whore gash) more often than I should!

The first marriage was just a practice round. Waited 2 years after the divorce before starting to date again. Spent that two years getting my chit together and packing away money. Married now for almost 15 years and couldn't be happier. Learned a lot from the first one.
