Login Issues- Users keep getting logged out

FP brought up a issue where users are randomly having to log back into the forum, and I believe it is due to a corrupt cookie version that some users may have.

In response I have just created a new custom cookie prefix, which will have the effect of logging everyone off of PP and force them to accept a new "good" cookie when they log back in. Hopefully it works! no guarantees...

Going forward, when you log in, make sure to check the "keep me logged in" box.

Also verify with your browser type how to set your security levels so you can retain cookies issued by this and other websites. Google is your friend, or:

Firefox:

IE:
To block or allow all cookies

Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button . ...
Click the Tools button , and then click Internet options.
Click the Privacy tab, and then, under Settings, move the slider to the top to block all cookies or to the bottom to allow all cookies, and then click OK.

How does this work for those of us using tablets and phones?

i havent had one issue, i use Chrome however, i feel its more stable than other browsers....

If you are using Android, you can go to settings, privacy, allow cookies. If you are using apple ios, I'm sorry.

Well it stuck for me with a browser relaunch.
May sing a different song when I shut down and reboot.
Glad I ain't no Apple lover, though....that schitt don't wash off.

What about us Mac and Safari users?

I get about 3-4 days worth before getting booted.

my desktop has explorer and keeps logging out but my laptop runs chrome and stays logged on

Been getting logged out regularly on iPad iPhone and laptop for a long while.

Same here on my mac with firefox.

Hope the new cookie fixes it, will see in a few days I guess.

PP works for me on using the Mac OS and the Mac iOS...and that's good enough for me!

nobody cares, on all fronts.

Got logged out 3 times in a row the other day trying to reply to something. Gave up trying to use my work 'puter. Still logs me out on my iPhone but not every time like my work and home computers.

Can you wear out the login button?
