Cowlitz Crack Pipe Rules - 06/10/16 08:52 AM

Is there a distance fisherman are suppose to stay away from the Handicap Hole/Crack Pipe? Are the boats exempt?

Seems like the spot to be. Is it legit?

The rule is you must be outside of a 100 foot radius of the pipe outfall unless you have a disability permit.

I make sure I am on the good side of the rule by staying outside of a 14 mile radius of that spot. rofl

Can boaters have a disability permit?

Can't see why not...but all those dudes with lines in the water would have to have one.

And it's not just any disability. In order to qualify to fish within the 100 foot area around the handicapped access, one must be permanently confined to a wheelchair. Most people with the common disabled parking permits are not the target angler audience who qualify.

And lots of boat anglers routinely violate the regulation by casting into the handicapped "zone" as they drift by. I guess when it comes to fishing, they consider themselves disabled.

Sounds like he's mentally challenged to me.
Should be GTG for the crack pipe.

Jesus.

Now you know why WDFW has to keep people from fishing bass and perch in Lk Washington when they close salmon fishing.

It's because assholes like this fuckin' guy can't follow rules.

fish@guidelinesfishing.com, has a real anger issue as well. I recommend staying far away as he is really rude, and a total J-ass.

Re: Cowlitz Crack Pipe Rules - 06/13/16 09:47 AM

If he is too close it's not totally his fault IMHO.
The rules surrounding that stupid pipe are ridiculous at best.
I think letting the handicapped folks fish it is great.
Beyond that WDFW should shut that whole flat down to fishing from a boat.
Launch and go above the riffle or below the corner.
A boat launch, next to a handicap hole, all in the area the fish congregate, is a joke.
Who do we have to thank?

WDFW.

"A boat launch, next to a handicap hole, all in the area the fish congregate, is a joke."

If the price of admission was to come up with a better solution, would you have anything to offer? Admittedly it's easy to sit on the sidelines and make sarcastic wise cracks, and you're very good at easy.

Re: Cowlitz Crack Pipe Rules - 06/14/16 09:56 AM

I listed a solution above?
Shut down the flat to boat fishing.
Seems simple to me.

Salmo I thank you for your years of government service and being a part of the downward spiral.
That was easy.

Re: Cowlitz Crack Pipe Rules - 06/14/16 01:31 PM

Is this just a boat/bankie battle for access? Or is it to make the restriction more clear and easier to enforce? If the problem is already public compliance and lack of enforcement, how does increasing the closed area help? If this is more of a confusion issue and not a compliance issue, is there any signage improvement that could be done?

Re: Cowlitz Crack Pipe Rules - 06/14/16 01:47 PM

I don't think there's any confusion about it. My personal observations?

If there's no handicapped bankies there at any given moment, boats with a sense of entitlement go ahead and fish there figuring, "HEY... What's the harm?"

YMMV....

Re: Cowlitz Crack Pipe Rules - 06/14/16 02:26 PM

Maybe a big ass sign facing out towards the water next to the ramp and downstream 100' from the handicap area would help.
Then again how many would obey the rule?

If I recall the last time I launched there a few years ago, there are just a couple of small signs facing in towards shore.

I propose a guy in a wheelchair armed with a paintball gun.
But that would be 2EASY.

The SRC SSF (spudgun strike force) could tidy that up in a few minutes.

We'd clear out the entire river of both bankies and boaters. Nothing and no one would be safe.
