Wasn't that long ago that this was considered one of, if not THE premiere fishing forums here in the PNW. I miss the activity and energy that was once commonplace on this board.

Perhaps the comments posted above are just more proof that PP continues to wither on the vine into obscurity.

Perhaps it is because most of the regular users here are know-it-all a$$holes that literally never provide anything helpful to anybody or this site?

Look at some of the threads asking for help or advice. It's not pretty and it's not going to attract new users.

I like this site and I like most of the a$$holes but if I owned this site I would change a few things before the regular forum becomes the dark side.

Internet forums are just about dead as it is because people can just make their own through friends, it's called Facebook or something like it. All the forums die the same death of hosting a bunch of territorial know-it-all a$$holes until that is all they are; troll caves.

Re: Anybody lose a gear bag at White Bridge? - 02/07/17 12:40 PM

Facebook dunnit. All the people that used to post reports, etc. have gone to posting on social media sites. Easiest way to reach the most people. What that's left us with is a handful of folks who post stuff on several sites and the rest of us, who mostly just wax poetic about non fishing-related stuff and bully each other.

I think this place still has enough of the best-informed followers of fisheries politics on board to be a good source for news on that subject. Plus, the Dark Side is usually good for a few laughs each day, and we all need that.

Hope the owner gets his/her gear back.

Facebook, fewer fish, more people, and the fear of someone sharing "your" water the next day if you do post pictures done it IMHO.

Let me make this clear.
I never fish or catch fish so I have nothing to add.

For the most part, the regular core users here are a group outstanding people and very knowledgeable fisherman, especially when it deals with policy, politics, the environment, and fisheries sciences.

They do not know it all, but they know a LOT. And you'd be stupid to ignore that.

Are they assholes? Aren't we all to some degree as we sit behind our computer screens and act all tough and macho? I mean come on, only an asshole is going to say that the regular users are assholes. Am I right?

This board declined in popularity as the internet matured and social media took over as the norm. Add to that, every "nice guy out there" turned in to an instant-asshole behind a computer, and here we are today. The generation of today's fishermen don't want to actually go to a river, do the scouting, learn the water, learn fish behavior and actually have to spend countless hours learning how to catch a fish. They'd rather watch a video about it on Youtube, or lurk/post on a fishing internet site to gleam whatever information they can.

Some, are only here to bitch, whine, and complain and contribute very little past that.

The older core group of people on this site probably didn't take too well to this and started to clam up on their posts, their reports, and their offering for help or advice.

There is still a flaming metric butt-load ton of useful information on this site. Oh sure, the days of free reports and fish porn are long gone and there are more assholes on this site than non-assholes, but this site and Bob has always kept the moderation low and let people speak for the most part.

For anyone that doesn't appreciate this site, leave. You're not doing us any favors by being here.

How does a fishing forum stay active when the fishing seasons and the fish we seek become so few and far between? In my neck of the woods, Whatcom County, it wasn't too long ago I could fish eleven months a year.................now I'm down to three or four with marginal fishing for half of those months. So much for any fish porn or epic days I can report on. And this use to be my favorite time of year to wet a line but now those seasons don't even exist.

Popularity is overrated.
I'm old.
I spent many hours learning to fish.
I met the biggest A$$hole I've ever met in my life on this board.

And

I like Gladheateher movies.

I think its funny that people will post reports all over facebook, but not here and then bitch if someone does it here. im sure a facebook report gets seen by a hell of a lot more people than it would here anymore.

If you ask for advice on this site, you're highly likely to get high quality useful feedback, mixed in with some other not so useful stuff.....

Lol that's funny.

Parker, I have learned a lot about fishing here on this forum, that's why I'm here. That's a given.

It's also entertaining which is a bonus.
