Cowlitz help...................Please - 02/15/17 08:33 AM
I am asking for everyone's help to please sign this petition even if you do not fish the Cowlitz...it could happen to a river close to you very soon. There is a full explanation on facebook on the "restore the Cowlitz" page..basically we are asking them to produce hatchery fish again like they once did..here is a link to the petition..it only takes a minute or 2..
Thank you,
A father teaching his kids to fish.

Thanks.
This will relieve pressure from many other rivers as well.

Done.
The local communities are taking multiple hits from the reductions in fishing opportunities. The losses also impact agency budgets from reduced license sales. The recruitment of new anglers will drop off, too. It's not just a Cowlitz issue. One only has to look at our recent salmon seasons and the 3 day halibut season we'll have this year.

I signed it, but wanted to ask how effective are these online petitions? Ive seen legit ones and stupid ones, but I am not sure if they're taken seriously by the powers that be.

Done
Hopefully if this ever comes to be, they don't somehow lose the fish they intend to plant.

It can't hurt, right?

Knowledge is power.
Some of the people that would see the petition are probably short on knowledge.
A group of people that are saying the same thing might just get heard.

Done. RB3 may be correct in his suspicion that these don't get much attention, but they are a good place to start. If nothing else, we can carry legitimate, data-backed claims in our back pockets at fisheries meetings that clearly support our arguments.
I suspect it's also true that audience attention increases along with number of signatures gathered....

Signed.
Not sure how much good they do, but one thing's for sure, these petitions don't hurt.
Fish on...

Kinda plays like a broken record when you read down the peoples comments on the petition page.

Done. That would help spread out the pressure, which is sorely needed--------

Thanks for your help guys.
If you can post this elsewhere and help get it to another level of signatures that would be awesome.
In a couple days here I watched the signature total increase by a couple hundred.
Now it's flat.
Do these things work????
Remember being hustled to sign the weed petitions when you walked out of the grocery store a few years back????
Now weed's legal.
If nothing else this petition helps keep public awareness up.
