Something I just noticed... - 11/26/08 11:08 AM

At these Obama press conferences, after his speech/announcement he seems to make a point of taking questions from NPR first. Anyone else noticed this? If so it's kinda cool...

At any rate, it's a drastic change having a guy going into office that seems to give a schit and have a work ethic....and do the fuggin JOB he was hired to do...

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/26/08 02:03 PM

The outgoing pres couldn't spell NPR.

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/26/08 02:12 PM

I think it is appropriate to always go to NPR first.

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/26/08 03:30 PM

NPR is really a front for a Muslim madrassas, or socialism, or is really owned by Ayers...something like that, I'm sure.

Either way, it's nice to see someone who's going to be in the White House actually having press conferences, and answering actual questions.

"National", "Public" and "Radio" are three things that we should all be proud of.

You mean he didn't field questions from a male prostitute first?

Fixed that typo for you.

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/26/08 03:54 PM

Barney Frank never invited a male prostitute to join the WH press corps..........and he's never been president.

And nobody here ever voted for Barney Frank.

But nice strawman anyway.

WASHINGTON – An economic crisis, rising joblessness and a credit squeeze can make a president-elect refine his words. Today's word is "repeal." During his presidential campaign, Barack Obama promised to repeal President George W. Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy ahead of their scheduled expiration in 2011.

It was part of how Obama would pay for an overall net tax cut aimed at low- and middle-income taxpayers, and an effort to bring what he called "fairness" to the tax system.

No one is talking tax hikes now.

Over the weekend, Obama said he has charged his new economic team with devising a plan that would create or preserve 2.5 million jobs over two years. He said the plan would include broad spending plans as well as the middle- and low-income tax cuts he described during the campaign.

Aides later said the plan would not include any of the tax increases Obama, as a candidate, had said he would impose on taxpayers who make more than $250,000.

Asked Monday when those hikes might go into effect, Obama said, "Whether that's done through repeal, or whether that's done because the Bush tax cuts are not renewed, is something that my economic team will be providing me a recommendation on."

If repealed early, Obama's tax increase on the rich would have generated significant revenue, but not enough to compensate for the cost of his tax cuts. An analysis by the Tax Policy Center, based on January 2008 income projections, estimated that the increases would result in about $43 billion in revenue in 2009 and $45 billion in 2010. Those numbers would be smaller now, as the economy has lowered expected incomes.

Obama's economic advisers say he will not propose any tax increases in the economic plan he unveils in January. It is to be focused entirely on job creation and economic recovery.

Ya gotta love the center. It's gotta suck, if you're ACORN, People for the American Way, Daily Kos/George Soros, KK, Irie, et.al, bananathis is absolutely funny.

Long live conservative principles, especially those being adopted by President-elect Obama!

So Obama is a "Country first, party second" kind of guy?

Good.

You party ballwashers should pay attention and learn something.

No kidding. Surely haven't seen any semblance of it in the last 12 years. Gotta suck for all the wingnuts to finally witness conservative principles at the hand of the most liberal Senator in Congress.

You got to like a guy who can see what's right and do it without pandering to his whack job radical base, or worrying about being called a flip flopper. He’s looking pretty damn presidential to me.

...Or worried only about taking a catastrophic national crisis and using it as an excuse to usurp The Constitution and line their pockets...

Which in hindsight seems like an even bigger crime than the attack itself....

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/27/08 12:48 AM

That's because it is a bigger crime than the attack itself...besides using the deaths of over 3000 Americans to further a very anti-American agenda...who hates our freedom?...the result was to make the terrorists the winners by giving them what they want...a fearful America.

Afraid? I'll make it better...let's just get rid of all those pesky civil rights that make it hard for me to protect you.

Quite right & spot on.

Through Bush and Cheney the Fundies got America closer to Sharia Law than it has ever been since The Civil War--the last time a Republican suspended Habeus Corpus...

Instead of additional divisive talk, why don't we take direction from my personal life coach, Rodney King? "Can't we all just get along?"

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/27/08 09:08 PM

You didn't hear the collective sigh from the left that we will finally have a real leader in office again? President-elect Obama hasn't even been inaugurated, yet is already exhibiting more leadership potential than bush has for the last 7 years.

It's so refreshing to watch him be interviewed, and not come away embarrassed that he represents your country.

Been a long time since we had a president like that, hasn't it?

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/28/08 12:34 PM

I mean, when was the last time we had a president who acted in the National Interest ahead of polls, public opinion, or its impact on his re-election? Certainly not GW, Clinton, Bush 1.

Seems it has been a while since we had a President if the United States; instead we have President of the Neocons, or President of the last poll.

I guess a bigger question, though, is when and where have we have office holders at any level whose first duty was to uphold the Constitution of the Country/State? Seems as though the most important thing now is to get re-elected.

Ultimately, it is our collective fault because we keep rewarding them .

If HE "rules" we're focked

Re: Something I just noticed... - 11/28/08 05:31 PM

If he "rules" or "leads" from only one spot, whether it be left, right, or center, we're screwed. he, actually all politicians, need to do what is best for the country, not some narrow interest.
