From a fish and game standpoint it might work out great. Keep your tax money and stay off the lower columbia. Kind of funny how Washington's best salmon/steelhead fishery is based on Idaho planting LOTS of fish. Put a cap on non resident fishing/hunting tags. Let the new washington keep fighting over tribal, hatchery, land rights, etc.... we'll keep catching a chit ton of fish and killing monster deer and elk while you cocksuckers in the city keep watching your natural resources circle the drain.....

I didn't question the tax generating element.... Read my statement again. It was strictly from a resource management standpoint, nothing more.

I spend enough time in that country, they'd make it. The tri cities and central Oregon are undergoing a technology boom of sorts with major players like, google, facebook, apple, and Amazon coming to town. Also their is a huge agricultural base there as well.

I'd be more worried about how much our power costs would rise, as FuckingBrokeIstan would have the vast majority of the dams and power production that Western Oregon/Washington uses.

The Power is Federal in most cases, not the state's. Grant and Douglas PUD's have local dams, so they could raise their rates. In Oregon at least some of it is owned by utilities; who operate under their own rules. So, power rates on the westside would probably not budge.

The federal government owns most of those dams, the counties own a couple.

Just to get it right, county PUDs own 5 mainstem Columbia dams - Priest Rapids, Wanapum, Rock Island, Rocky Reach, and Wells. The PUDs negotiate long-term power contract sales with other utilities like Puget Sound Energy, Seattle City Light, Tacoma Power and others for the best rates they can get. If eastern WA joined Idaho, nothing would change in that regard. Those PUDs produce more power than their individual counties could ever hope to use, so they sell all that they don't use. If they raised their rates during the next contract negotiations, the buyers would just move on to the next best seller. Free market capitalism works like that, even among government owned utilities.

The federal government owns and operates Bonneville, Dalles, John Day, McNary, Chief Joseph, Grand Coulee, Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose, and Lower Granite. BPA markets the power for the feds, partly at market rate, and partly at lower prices to public utilities.

But I think the general idea is great. The like minded conservative rural citizens could join together and pass laws that the SCOTUS has ruled unconstitutional and have a grand old time. Until, as Todd mentioned, they run out of urban money to fund their infrastructure.
