Fight Fans - 08/14/19 11:02 AM

Who you guys got for this Saturday's ufc 241.
I have been waiting for the return of Diaz for a while.

Cormier vs miocic 2
Pettis vs Diaz
Romero vs Costa
Posted by: Snake Pliskin

Re: Fight Fans - 08/14/19 11:43 AM

Great card. Miocic can be dangerous if he stays striking. Going to the floor with Cormier is never good. Costa is on the juice, but Romero is tough. I hope Pettis levels Diaz.

Re: Fight Fans - 08/14/19 12:01 PM

if DC can keep his fingers out of peoples eyes, Stipe wins this go....

Yoel is a bad dude, but hes getting really old, so we will see...

Nate should tune Pettis up, then most likely submit him... Diaz doesnt and never has had knockout power, kinda like Holloway, but the sheer volume of his strikes is what breaks people down.... just ask McNugget....

I have nothing to add to this thread. I'm a lover.
Posted by: SpoonFed

Re: Fight Fans - 08/14/19 01:49 PM

It's gonna be a tough call between Diaz and Pettis. Diaz has got the cardio and volume but Pettis hits a lot harder now at welterweight. We shall see how pettis's glass hands hold up.
DC needs his fingers taped back that dirty Fvck. If Miocic can keep it standing and keep his chin tucked I think he can take this one.
Romero and Costa is either going to a decision or somebody's going to sleep.
None the less, this card is stacked.

Fvck McNugget, I'd love to choke the lucky charms out that leprechaun.

I am a big fan of Diaz. I hope Nate admisters the stockton slap haha.
Posted by: 5 * General Evo

Re: Fight Fans - 08/14/19 03:50 PM

should be a good one...

Pettis has power, but Nate has a chin carved of diamond...

both of them are LETHAL off their backs however...

but, Nate has a reach advantage, and has a solid 1-2 jab sequence that he constantly throws, and no one can stop it... thats where he wears people down till they do something stupid...

then its game over...
Posted by: SpoonFed

Re: Fight Fans - 08/14/19 04:54 PM

Pettis's hands will break before he knocks Nate out..

TEAM DIAZ

Re: Fight Fans - 08/14/19 06:48 PM

You got McNugget wanting to fight Mayweather again, Mayweather wanting to fight Kabib...

Want a better fight?

Mayweather vs Diaz...

1 he deserves it.. Like him or not he is great for the sport...

2, he can box better than both of them combined...

3 his chin...

Diaz by decision...

As much as I like Cormier, I gotta go with Stipe. He's hungry, and
want's his belt back.

If the fight stays on the feet, I'd go with Pettis. Diaz is an awesome
boxer, but Pettis has got a whole bag full of tricks, including a very
damaging lower leg kick, which he will no doubt use with great
frequency. Best bet for Diaz is taking him down and abusing him, or
go for a submission. Also going to depend on Pettis's cardio..can he
last 5 rounds with Diaz constantly in his face?

I'll have to wait and read the results, 'cause I'm not about to pay the
ransom they want for the PPV, plus I can watch the fight on YouTube
within an hour of the fight... moose

He slapped Connor like a b!tch, the dude is entertaining,he goes to war,and he has mad boxing skills and a chin of iron, plus his ground game is legit. He won't be a pushover I don't care if he has had a 10 year layoff, all the Diaz brothers do is train. They live it.

I like Cormier in the main event. I think he KO's Miocic again.

Re: Fight Fans - 08/16/19 03:21 PM

As for the Romero Costa fight that could be the one of the night. Both those guys are animals, but I gotta go Romero on that one,he is gnarly.

Romero was robbed.
Diaz took Pettis to school after a 3 year lay off. Team Diaz

Diaz is a really good boxer, throws some nice quick combo's. thumbs
Posted by: SpoonFed

Re: Fight Fans - 08/17/19 10:11 PM

He starts off slow but when he starts putting it together he could just give about anybody problems.

Stipe gets it done. Cormier gassed and couldn't take those rips to the body. Well done. Time for Cormier to hang it up, we don't need to see a cormier vs jones 3.
Posted by: 5 * General Evo

Re: Fight Fans - 08/18/19 10:59 AM

it was a great card for sure...

yeah Romero got robbed.. god that guy is a monster at 42 years old...

Diaz, what a great performance... by both of them actually... you can see just how elite his Jiu Jistu is... plus he keeps getting better.. the Masvidal fight that should happen next, will be even better than this one...

Stipe, i like the guy more and more every time i watch him fight... hopefully this ended DC's arrogance about who is the GOAT... cuz it sure as sh!t never was him....
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: Fight Fans - 08/18/19 07:56 PM

Nate Diaz after a 3 year layoff proved that he is an elite fighter and I predict this is his time. He's my favorite fighter at the moment, been a fan for years. I wasn't sure what would happen during the romero costa fight , that finger in the eyes deal didn't look fun. DC got beat.

UFC 242..7 days..
How do you guys see this Khabib vs Poirier fight playing out?
All I gotta say is Dustin better keep it standing and keep some serious pressure on khabib or its gonna be a long night for 'The Diamond'.
Posted by: Snake Pliskin

Re: Fight Fans - 08/31/19 02:28 PM

Poirier can land bombs and has a good motor. But if it goes to the ground Khabib has the advantage. Poirier needs a good game plan to avoid rushes and takedown attempts by Khabib. The Poirier-Gaethje fight amazing but I don't see this one going that way. I'm pulling for Poirier, doubt it will go to decision.
Posted by: GoldDigger

Re: Fight Fans - 08/31/19 07:29 PM

Big fan of Poirier, but I fear that he will not be able to manage Khabib.

My guess is Khabib wins in the 3rd round..TKO

Masvidal vs Diaz confirmed for UFC 244, November 2nd....

Poirier vs Kabib should be a good fight... McGregor was doing pretty good against him in the stand up game, but Kabibs wrestling is just too good...

it could go either way, but i think that Kabib may win this one... unless Dustin knocks him out coming in for a take down.... we shall see...

Re: Fight Fans - 09/07/19 12:51 PM

I saw that this morning. At madison square garden no less. Glad to see Dana booking fights the people are asking for. I hope the rest of that card is good because I predict that to be fight of the year if all goes well.

Khabib takes it to the ground and Poirier is done for.

Khabib let Poirier blow his arms out with that guillotine attempt long enough to gas him and slip to finish him off.

fvck...

Diaz out of next weekends fight vs Masvidal, USADA said he tested positive for "elevated levels" of something from a possible tainted supplement...

Diaz is a vegan and very strict on his diet, and he is PISSED...

also, McNougat announced he will be fighting in January, and wont name the competitor, saying ask the UFC...

to me this sounds like its going to me McGregor vs Masvidal, McGregor is going to beat his ass, and set up a trilogy fight with Diaz, which will bring a ton more money.....

was really looking forward to watching Diaz....

I'm really pulling for this fight to happen. There is too much money on the line for the organization to scratch this fight now. Not to mention that Dana White forked out 50,000 to have this BMF belt made.
Look what happened with that fvckin snake Jon jones. He pissed hot on more than one occasion and Still got to fight.

Masvidal would give mcgreggor problems if that fight ever happened.

I'm standing with Diaz. He ain't no fvckin cheat.

Re: Fight Fans - 10/25/19 11:11 AM

what i find odd, is that someone in the UFC told him to not say anything...

who was that, and why?

apparently its trace levels of SARM, which usually pops with tainted supplements...

Diaz is a weird cat with his diet, super strict, and consistent...

all this sh!t is weird...

he hasnt been suspended yet so i suppose it still could happen, but Diaz is pissed, as it is a mark against his whole career, and he has always been one of the loudest against steroid use... similar to Mark Hunt...

the UFC/USADA/NVAC pretty much has always hated the DIaz brothers, remember, Nick got banned for 5 years for smoking weed.... (was reduced, but still screwed everything up)

now it seems that with the loss of the money bag that McNougat made for them, they needed to leach off someone else, and that turned out to be Diaz...

It would be fvcked up for the ufc to pass on Edwards like that.

although i dont care for the guy, heres what Sonnen has to say about it if you care to watch...

Re: Fight Fans - 10/25/19 12:19 PM

Never believe everything that comes from uncle Chael.

The ufc Isn't saying $hit because their too busy scrambling to make a fight or gettin to the bottom of the Nate [Bleeeeep!]. There is way to much money on the line for the organization.
Usada doesn't make $hit public because they leave it to the organization and the fighters to spill the beans and make themselves look like asshats.
If the ufc comes to Leon w enough dough to save the day, the dude will be there on fight day, make weight and give masvidal one hell of a scrap. He's game as Fvck and it makes sense.

Covington is tough as nails. I had that fight dead even going into the 5th. Was disappointed in the Moraes / Aldo fight, and I didn't like seing my boy Faber get wrecked like that. But he had a great career and is a warrior. De Randamie gave Amanda more trouble than I expected to but Nunes is the GOAT. And I was gravely disappointed in Max Holloway. His leg is fkn hamburger.

Unfortunately any damage to his head is just superficial, there clearly isn't anything important in there.

Cerrone is no joke, Mcgregor looks pretty jacked up. I am hoping Cowboy retires Leprechaun boy. That Conor is ranked still baffles me. I guess his last fight in the bar with the old man kept him in the top ten. Yeah Cowboy has the most wins in UFC history ,I hope he beats McGregor.

Re: Fight Fans - 12/31/19 01:08 PM

I hoping the same. We will see how hungry Connor still is.

I would love to see Connor get put to sleep tbh.
For his sake, he better have worked on his endurance.

Re: Fight Fans - 12/31/19 04:21 PM

Word around the watercooler is he is eager to prove himself at 170 and fight Usman. Usman will wreck him IMO.

I'm impressed that this is of interest to some of you. I kinda' lost interest in it all when I learned as a youth that pro wrestling is fake. That was almost as bad as learning Santa Claus ain't real.

Re: Fight Fans - 01/01/20 12:21 PM

MMA is not WWE.
Being locked in a octagon and getting ko'd or choked out is as real as it gets.

The reason I love the sport is watching these young, hungry up comers work so hard and train like crazy to be the best in the world.
Khabib is a prime example. That guy works so damn hard, that's why he is one of the best lightweights ever.
28-0, who does that.
If you don't have the right mindset, you're not gonna make it far.

rofl

jesus christ....

as much as i hate Connor, and love Cowboy, i think Connor is going to win... he is the hardest puncher in the UFC, as stated by many of them... the one thing Cowboy has going for him, is his submission game, that can spell trouble for Connor, but i just dont see it working this time... i hope i am wrong...

Nice troll job Salmo. Or,is it...

So my friend told me if Conor loses he retires. I disagree. I think if he loses 2,he definitely retires. How hungry is he? Rich McGregor isn't the same beast as hungry poor McGregor. I think he has something to prove and will make a showing of himself. Nate Conor 3 draws money so we may see that fight happen still. I still wanna see him get his ass humbled.

Help me out WP and tell me what does it mean to be "all in?" Avid thinks I'm trolling, but I'm not. I lost interest in any kind of professional fighting when it became apparent that Ali had suffered brain damage from his time in the ring, despite his skill at "dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee . . ." If that's the product of pugilism, then we might as well allow gladiator contests and really give the fans a show.

I don't get the appeal of MMA other than the basest reptilian instincts, which pretty much by definition can only bring out the basest in human behavior. Which according to psychologists is that the human subconscious reaction to seeing another human approaching from a distance is, "can that person kill me? If so, then fight or flight. If not, then maybe I will kill him. Or not." This all happens subconsciously, so we don't even think about it generally.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that can be risky here on the DS. If I understand anything about the sports you participate in, it's about the physical and mental skill and not killing your opponent. Is that correct?

I really appreciated the technical skill of boxing and going one-on-one, as opposed to team sports. And I haven't lost that appreciation, but with brain damage being the logical outcome, I just made a conscious decision to no longer be a boxing fan. So I was already out of the loop when MMA and cage fighting became popular.

No. This is a highly regulated contest with stringent rules and excellent officiating. Many MMA fighters have gone one to have healthy lives and careers outisde of fighting. Gladiator matches with lions end up badly.Poor lions.

Not all boxers had brain damage. I hear you though. I remember the Boom Boom fight against Duk Koo Kim. So I understand your decision. I no longer follow boxing but at one time I was a huge fan of Hearns ,Ray Leonard, and Iron Mike Tyson.

Re: Fight Fans - 01/18/20 08:00 AM

I like both fighters. McGregor has showed some focus and maturity lately, he is even a little humble and respects both Cowboy and the sport. Cowboy is a stud, just wants to battle with anybody, anytime. Then put on his hat and go home to his family.
McGregor's best chance to win is early....first two rounds. If it goes later, Cerrone gets stronger. If Cerrone's kicks get through or it goes to the ground, this could be over early, but same if McGregor's left connects.
Should be a good fight.
The Holm-Pennington fight should be good too.

Zhang should dominate.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. One of the worst fights I've watched. asshat

Re: Fight Fans - 03/07/20 10:54 PM

The first 4 fights were very good. I was stoked to see Sugar O'Malley win. But that women's championship was phenominal. Joanna too more damage than I've seen in a women's fight. I've never seen a forehead look like that. How she was able to continue is beyond me.

Romero was just standing there for like 2 minutes in the first round. Adesanya didn't throw enough strikes I feel, but he didn't fight a stupid fight and he won. Romero just didn't do enough, and for a guy with Olympic caliber wrestling he just looked sloppy with those takedown attempts. I will take that women's title fight though. Can't say enough about what a war that was,and yes, best ever.
