Sabbath was the wellspring from which Heavy Metal sprung,but they themselves will tell you they were a rock and roll band. Heavy metal wasn't a genre. But they were the founding fathers.

I think Gojira is one of the better "newer" metal bands. I like their themes of enviromental issues and spirituality. Behemoth is a wicked band but thematically I get bored quickly with the satanic themes.

Mario Duplantier is the real deal. He can play double bass for an hour without ever stopping,it's his "warm up". Saw those guys live in SC and they were off the hook. Never seen Behemoth,but if you are into that sort of sh!t check out Watain. They are swedish and light upside down crosses on fire on stage and throw blood on the crowd. Not so fast. The guitar chords in In-Agadda-Da-Vida were laid down before Priest was even a band. If you are talking theatrics & looks, then it probably was Priest. Iron Butterfly probably considered themselves just Rock. This brings me to a point of clarification needed. Is heavy metal considered the structural arrangement of a song or it is an all up music, attitude and look combined?

I would say it would be the later. Case in point, The Kinks were the first to cut their speakers to produce fuzz. Is fuzz considered HM or are just power cords considered HM? The Kinks are not HM.

I'm talking Heavy Metal as a subgenre of music. You know what Heavy Metal is. Iron Maiden. Slayer. Many people say Sabbath was the first,and that's not up for debate. But the first band to put it all together was Judas Priest.

Your definition of 'all up' fair enough and the correct one. With that I would agree that it's Priest. However, Priest did not originally create the sound themselves - they borrowed the structural power cord basis and built it into a subgenre which directly maps to your point.

Music is a tough one considering very few have actually created a new sound. Most pick, choose and borrow from those that have come before.

Bands like High on Fire,early Mastodon,and the Sword re-piqued my interest in heavy music for a while. Lately I have been on a different metal kick,old Accept,Raven,Krokus and Michael Schenker,and morose 80s bands like the Cure and Killing Joke,Bauhaus,and I've really been digging NEU! which was an early 70s band from Germany. Europe seems to grab my attention more than America when it comes to hard rock and other types of things but the US has it's fair share.

What if the vehicle was suspended off of the cinder blocks allowing all 4 times to spin? I could be wrong on this ASSumption that the "speed" of a vehicle is just a calculation of simple axel/wheel rotation, and if that were the case, it seems to me all Evo would have to do is:

a) Climb in the suspended vehicle.
b) Get the engine started.
c) Stomp on the gas and let the wheels spin!
d) Achieve 260MPH
e) Take photo of speedometer, post it to the board, and tell Nick to SUCK IT HARD!!!!!"

PS. I strongly recommend that:

2) Has the vehicle strapped down, or at least partially strapped down. I'm guessing nothing good can happen from a blocked up vehicle with wheels spinning at 260MPH and falling off of the blocks.

I used to think my Led Zep Physical Graffiti on vinyl was valuable. Turns out...9 bucks lol. What I do have is a bunch of really cool old vintage plugs for bass and muskie/pike in their original boxes. I know those are collectible. The were grandpas so I'll never sell.

My holy grail got stolen by a druggie neighbor. It was the Bellingham Baby Ms team set pack, sealed with Ken Griffey and it was bought at a game in Bellingham with my grandma. I’m way to old to miss it or care but If I had it I’d probably open it on my death bed. Circle of life.

Hey Evo, I only know about you from what you post here. And that adds up to a deadbeat who doesn't work, doesn't want to work, but wants us to think his life is filled with all the material rewards that the rest of us actually work for. BTW, I'm coachable. Just post information that leads us to conclude that you're a productive human being who lives a responsible life, and if it checks out, I would totally change my opinion of you. It's that simple. And if you're not a deadbeat, and with all your many posts, why don't they add up to a more positive conclusion?

After working for a living all my life, I built a whole house, have a 3-car garage which has no room for our cars because I store boats in there and have a workshop - a concept you might not understand. I enjoy working on things, and since retirement I maintain a garden and built a couple woodsheds (no more firewood under leaky plastic tarps), and built a fly fishing pram to use on lakes where my jet boat isn't appropriate, or the canoe, or the kayaks, etc., and go fishing whenever I want. I guess we have that in common; as an unemployed deadbeat you can also go fishing whenever you want.
