I'm still trying to determine how funds for abortion, airline carbon emissions, wind and solar credits have anything to do with virus relief and I got nuthin'. Porkers are gonna pork. Remember, never let a good crisis go to waste.

They are all human filth. The fact that people continue to try and tribally delineate & rank said human filth as being better or worse compared to other human filth amazes me. Filth is filth and I hope the all get voted out and then goose marched into the town square.

That bastion of free thought and impartiality, the Conservative Treehouse...LOL!...is literally the only rag telling this story.

Sounds like fake news.

Every other news source, actual news sources even, are reporting that not only are the negotiations ongoing, but that the restrictions on what corporations get to do with their Socialism are going into place, and the unemployment benefits and time are being increased.

And Nick, you know that the spending is subject to the Hyde Amendment, which, in spite of what you read on Breitbart, would still prohibit federal funds for abortion.

I hear ya Tood. I just think that any pork right now is in extremely bad taste. Just as I think a $500 billion slush fund to be doled out at discretion is in extremely bad taste. This is no time for tribal partisanship even though there is plenty of blame to go around (we'll get to that). Main street better get taken care first this go around or there will be pitch forks in the streets and I'll fookin' lead the charge.

Until then, we got shovels in our hands and it's time to go to work. Eventually, we'll be able to lay down those shovels and pick up the pitch forks. But that time is not now. Keep yer' powder dry and your eyes on the horizon.

It looks like an agreement is in place, now they just need to get the Representatives and Senators to vote. Pelosi is saying she would prefer to pass it with "unanimous consent" which requires just 2 Representatives to be on the floor. We shall see. It is very disheartening to see Conservative News spread bullsh*t but even more disheartening to see so many lap it up. But so it goes......

Re: Piglosi Backs Down... - 03/25/20 08:09 AM

Let's at least be honest here...$1200 per person, and $500 per kid, that you have to pay back if you made more than $75K in 2018 (or 2019 if you already filed your taxes) isn't schit.

It's a shiny object to take your eye off the trillions being handed out to the big corporations, again.

At the very least that $500 Billion being handed over to corporations needs to be anything but a "slush fund" that corporate lackey Mnuchin gets to hand out like Halloween candy to the President's favorites.

If it's going to happen, it has to have a ton of conditions on what it can be used for, and every one of those conditions better be for the direct benefit of the workers and jobs that need the help.

The airlines aren't failing because of reduced flying for the last 10 days; they are failing because the last time we gave them hundreds of billions of dollars to "help their business and workers", they took the money, bought back all their stocks, and then cashed it out and the execs parsed it out to themselves.

They get nothing, not until every one of those execs pays back every fuckin penny...and those execs should be in jail.

If there is going to be a bailout, put the money where it works...and for right now, that's into unemployment insurance to extend and increase benefits for those who are out of work because of this.

The unemployment numbers are going to come out tomorrow between 12% and 13%, and that's the worst since the 50s.

Trickle up economics always works; give people money, especially poor people, and they will spend it, and the economy moves in the right direction.

It's always been that way, until asshat Reagan flipped it upside down and began the precipitous slide into the 1% with almost everything and the rest with almost nothing, comparatively speaking.

No matter what you ever hear from anyone, especially in the GOP and their echo chamber ballwashers, the US of A is the biggest Socialist country in the world, bar none, bigger than all the rest, ever, combined.

We just give all of our Socialist tax dollars to gigantic corporations.

Privatize the profits and socialize the losses!

$1200 might not be much for us, but it could be a life saver for a out-of-work single mom with 3 hungry kids.

Rich - people need bailout monies to be able to afford price gouged TP because of slimy, anti-American cocksuckers like you. All of this is your fault. You and you alone. Just know that if we ever get to the point of voting people off the island, you will have my fullest support.

They can keep my $1,200. It won’t make a difference to me.
I’d rather have my social security in the future that I’ve worked nearly 40 years to earn.
I’d like that part of my retirement plan to be there when I decide to pull the trigger on working rather then a $1,200 bailout check.

So just before this corona virus shelter in place was implemented I had just paid 2 grand in workers comp and liability insurance for my business. Fast forward a week when I have 16 grand in revenue for the months of March and April fall through,as well as multiple bills, payroll etc,and it becomes a perfect storm. Sucks. But I don-t cry about it. I will just do what I have to do.

Re: Piglosi Backs Down... - 03/25/20 11:17 AM

I have complete empathy for both people and businesses in this situation and believe helping both is in order. 15% -30% unemployment isn't good for anyone and businesses that go under can no longer employ people. However, the guidelines and structure should be in place that businesses do not profit from that help or even get to protect the profit they were otherwise projecting. Bailout should be a last-resort rescue in order to protect jobs not protect profit. Big business can take their lumps just like the rest of us.

If you divorce yourself from the emotion of it, this is a natural process of culling the weak. Happens in the natural world, happens with people, and should be allowed to happen with businesses as well. That can be balanced with the understanding that we the people asked business to shut down to help protect our lives. Helping them protect the life of their business in return makes sense. Saving their life is one thing and a good thing in most cases. Going overboard and protecting their profits as if this never happened is something else altogether and benefits the few and those that don't really need a "bailout". Big business and their shareholders can take their lumps just like the rest of society.

I rely on commissions to make the money I do and have had more than half my book of business shut down in the past 2 weeks putting a serious divot in my cashflow. I don't get to go running to the feds and ask them to make up the difference nor do I qualify for a coronacheck even though my income won't cover my expenses for the next few months. Instead I've pivoted and looked for opportunities with companies that may be looking to invest in technology during the downturn or existing clients that have new and different needs at this time. By using my head instead of holding out my hand for a handout I've been able to close new deals that now have more than made up for the projects put on hold.

Not every type of business can do that but they sure as hell should be trying to pivot and adapt before holding out their hands! I'd love to see big business have to pay all that money back directly to a fund that gets distributed back to taxpayers who are ultimately the ones footing the bill.

Yes to all of this. This is why I think they should jail the airline execs, confiscate all "their" money, and give it back to the airline companies so they can operate their business and pay their employees.

So...while Sol Dunce and NapD90n were getting their panties all knotted up over 100% fake made up news...solid job, guys...the White House and the Senate came up with a bipartisan bill that gave "loans" to big corporations that may be forgiven if they use the money to benefit workers and workers benefits (rather than lining the exec pockets again), $1200 checks (or less depending on your income) for taxpayers, $500 for each kid, and extended/increased unemployment insurance for a wide group of people who are out of work right now, or will be soon.

$500 Billion for businesses, a pile of money for healthcare workers and supplies, cash for taxpayers, and unemployment for many who have lost their jobs.

All good, right?

Nope.

Four senators, including bootlicker extraordinaire, Lindsey Graham, have objected to the relief bill.

Why, you ask?

Because a small amount, like less than 5%, of the people who will be eligible for the enhanced unemployment insurance, "might"...might...actually make $600 more per month on the insurance than they would on their low paying jobs that they lost.

These four senators feel that those people might quit their jobs so they can instead collect $20 a day more in unemployment for a few months.

So...considering all the completely fabricated outrage from the bootlickers, cumguzzlers, and other assorted right wing fruitcakes over the Democrats objecting to a $500 Billion slush fund with no conditions being doled out by President Trump's lackey to the President's corporate buddies...completely made up butt hurt...

My comments were aimed at the massive butthurt from the bootlickers on Facebook who were calling for Pelosi's head...based on fake news...and wondering how they were doing with Graham et al's heads, based on actual news.

I bet they are good with holding up $3T in funding to make sure a few people who make minimum wage don't quit their jobs to gather in that extra $20/day for a few months.

Republicans bail out by the billions for big corporations that don’t need it. Let ‘em fail. Allow for laissez-faire economics to take place and the next big business with good structure to expand in the market place. Temporarily things may disrupt but in the long run it better sorts itself out with the best businesses and practices being the ones that succeed. Stop bailing out the chit businesses.

Democrats bail out for the people, many of whom become enabled and reliant on government to solve problems instead of instilling personal responsibility. It isn’t the government’s job to provide a lifetime supply of tittay milk for people. How does this teach people to exercise sound life decision making when you bail them out with everything?

Government as a whole wants to control people and will utilize every opportunity and crisis to exert authority and control over people. They want you to be controlled and manipulated as the profitable tax livestock you all are. Government needs to get the fukkk out of people’s lives and leave them be.

Party loyalists and extremists/partisan hacks... you know who you are and you all need to open your eyes and realize your parties don’t actually give a fukkk about you. They see you as a part of the heard that needs to be told what to think and don’t actually want you to think for yourself. You dumbfukkks fall for it. Some of you have the insight to see it but refuse to acknowledge it... but some of you are so blind and stupid and continue to dig your heals in and disagree... reiterating to everyone how fukkkin stupid you actually are.

Re: Piglosi Backs Down... - 03/27/20 06:22 PM

How about debating the substance of what I said? Your insistence on calling me a trumpanzee means you are trying to put me in a box. You can’t put me in a box because I’m not a sheep like you. Putting me in a box means you can make assumptions without actually debating me on substance... something you can’t do because you’re a fukkkin dumbchit.

I bet evo’s experiment involves an algorithm he created for every time we say his name. Or he just hand counts it, regardless, I’m looking forward for the results and conclusion.

Very possible... just so he can try to prove how we “obsess” over him even when he isn’t there. But there is an endless amount of ripe material with that one... kind of hard to not talk about it.
