Cancel Culture and the GQP

Cancel Culture and the GQP - 04/07/21 04:10 PM

The Party of Hypocrisy, who has sought to cancel literally everything that isn't white and wealthy since the 80's, is whining about Georgia companies Delta Airlines and Coca-Cola, and MLB, for taking a stance against Georgia's Jim Crow 2021 laws.

Mitch McConnell, the worst of the worst hypocrites, stated that corporations should "stay out of politics"...after being the most vocal proponent of Citizens United, that literally gave corporations First Amendment rights to be directly involved in politics.

He clarified by saying that they should stay out of politics, except for making campaign contributions.

After being laughed at by everyone (except Cultists, of course), he further clarified today by saying exactly the opposite, that corporations of course have the right to speak out about politics.

What he and Trump should actually do, is stay out of business...but something tells me that their kneejerk victimhood and constant and continual whining about the very market that they proclaim to love more than Jesus himself (but not more than Trump...sheesh)...when the market makes market decisions, about their market.

Go Mitch.

Why the poorest state in the Union continues to vote for that douchebag is a wonder.

I guess it really owns the libs.

Straight out of the same playbook the Dems use. The hypocrisy is prevalent on both sides. “Moderate” Todd strikes again. Of all your posts the last few years we have seen thousands slamming the GQP... and only one (kind of) against Dems that I can recall (a passive indirect criticism of Cuomo).

Slams against GQP = 3,789
Slams against Dems = 0.5

Great work “Moderate” Todd

Todd,
For you or anyone else to call the new laws akin to Jim Crow is extremely ignorant. There is a reason why in 1959, only about 4% of blacks cast a vote, but in 2020 as much as 70% did. To equate the requirement to have an id to poll taxes, white only primaries, literacy requirements and outright violence is idiotic.

The truth is, the claims of voter fraud are equivalent to the claims of voter suppressions. Both are simply not true and not borne out with any factual evidence. Both sides playing games, and the ignorant public following in lock-step.

Kracker Jack,

Who is the ignorant one? Georgia's recent voter suppression laws are Jim Crow on steroids. Why don't you look at it from the black viewpoint? What's next? Restricting voting to property owners? Are they going to have white hooded Klansmen to intimidate the voters? This reactionary law that is based on a lie is going to be fought in courts. Retarded Trump is still claiming he was screwed to the donors he's fleeced.

Jim Crow laws were not about segregation, they were about institutionalizing the lower economic and social status of non-whites.

This is my shocked face that you would compare apples to oranges, again...that works on the easily led like Krijack above, but not on actual thinkers.

"Jim Crow laws were a collection of state and local statutes that legalized racial segregation. Named after a Black minstrel show character, the laws—which existed for about 100 years, from the post-Civil War era until 1968—were meant to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, get an education or other opportunities. Those who attempted to defy Jim Crow laws often faced arrest, fines, jail sentences, violence and death."

So, using your definition here, in what way does Georgia's voter ID law institutionalize the lower economic and social status of non-whites?

Re: Cancel Culture and the GQP - 04/12/21 12:15 PM

There is a handful of stupid and petty provisions aimed at black people, mostly, like ending Sunday voting (which didn't make the final cut), or the silly "can't give people water or food" parts, but the main part that is troublesome is allowing the Georgia State Election Board to take over for local election boards if they don't like the result.

That, of course, would have put a handful of political hacks in charge of the local election boards in precincts that made the difference in both the Presidential and Senate races.

In the name of "restoring confidence" in Georgia's voting system...yeah. Everything has been counted, recounted, re-recounted, tabulated, retabulated, and re-retabulated...and there was no problem whatsoever with Georgia's voting.

The only "problem" was that a lying sackofshit former POTUS and his merry band of idiots around the country can't stop lying.

Renouncing the Big Lie is how you maintain confidence in a good system...handing it over to the very lying hacks is how you don't...but, of course, "confidence" isn't the goal here...disenfranchising black voters in Atlanta is the goal here.

The problem wasn't lack of confidence in voting...the problem was that the People spoke, and the GQP didn't like what they had to say.

Re: Cancel Culture and the GQP - 04/12/21 12:26 PM

Now, if they really want to address "voter confidence", they should take Trump out back and shoot him between the eyes on live TV and make sure everyone knows it's because of his lies...and then take everyone who repeats the lies and grind them up into dogfood and feed them to pups at local shelters.

That would go a long way towards addressing the actual problem.

The line in the Georgia law about the elections board takeover is the one that concerns me. It’s like they learned exactly what they needed in place to overturn the last Presidential election and will have it in place the next time they feel like democrats must have committed massive fraud (with no proof).

Jim Crow laws were intended to keep black people at a lower economic and social level.

This law is intended to disenfranchise voters in certain areas of Georgia, especially Fulton County, where Atlanta is, in order to keep black people at a lower economic and social level.

But you knew this, you're just being contrary.

1. That is a Rasmussen poll, so it's probably wrong by 10 or 15 percent, but does reflect support for voter ID laws, in general.

2. Shocking, but apples to oranges, yet again. Supporting voter ID is not supporting having a GOP panel supplant the election administration by local election boards.

I hope this helps, but suspect it won't...let me know when the next false equivalency comes along.

Thanks in advance.

As a patriotic American, I support the idea of presenting an ID to vote. I also support making the ability to get ID equally easy to all citizens. In Houston, for example, the nearest place to get ID for folks who live in a poor section of town is a 60 mile round trip. Without a vehicle that presents a burden that leads to disenfranchisement. Make it easy for all to get an ID and BS like the Georgia law won't be needed.

He lost for two main reasons - The biggest is that people just don't like him on a personal level. The second is that he went out of his way to do a terrible job with the Pandemic.

I don't get to vote in Georgia (thankfully,) though I will admit to gaining a bit of respect for that state post election last year.

While we boomers were selfish, you don't know the half of it.

First we scared y'all into staying home and out of restaurants while we conspired with those restaurants so they could jack up their prices. In return we'd eat killer food in those restaurant kitchens (no waiting, no crowds!) with our co-conspirator restaurant owners, some of whom where hot women who gave us happy endings for no charge.

The best part was when we scared you all off the rivers. Ah, yes, all those glory days fishing alone at the hatchery crackpipe, just filling up the freezer.

Oh, those were the days.

Now be nice to us or, you know...Covid-22!

I double majored in Biology with much of my coursework in fisheries and aquatic ecosystems. It’s a useless degree unless you like to walk streams for $16 an hour or work at a hatchery. It only becomes cool once you’ve obtained a Master’s or Doctorate and you are leading the research vs. being a field grunt. Having a degree in fisheries also doesn’t give you as much street cred as you might think. I’ve met people with degrees in fisheries who could not distinguish between juvenile salmonids during stream surveys.

There are lifetime anglers out there who spend a lot of time on the water and researching in their own who know far more about fisheries science than people with degrees. Just saying...

There is research to support Vitamin D as a major preventative factor for Covid.

But good luck convincing someone like illshee that is the case because it didn’t come from King Fauci. I honestly think illshee suffers from some type of developmental disability or cognitive impairment. The shillshe is the one person on this board who actually makes Evo look smart.

They actually think they are caring, compassionate moral people just because they are liberals but they don't actually do anything caring, compassionate or moral. Just being liberal is enough. This is why they don't donate to charity or actually volunteer to help people. Just being liberal and virtue signalling is enough. Then they talk down to people who tithe 10% of their income even though the liberals never donate a single dime.

Actual bonafide fisheries degree here. It's been a good life for me, earning a living doing stuff I might have done for free if I didn't need a job. But since I did have a job, I have not one fishing rod, but more than I can keep track of. So yeah, that makes the degree useful.

But not a degree necessarily helpful in keeping track of personal fishing rod numbers, but numbers of fish to catch perhaps?

Illashee is an emotional thinker, uses very little logic when it comes to making decisions or submitting posts and expressing his feelings about something.

The emotional thinker (often from the left side party) tends to cry wolf in every situation they can begging for attention and hoping they look edumacated... I'm sure he's smart in many ways, he just doesn't have the ability to express it well.

It's ok to believe one must have a fisheries degree to know anything about the PNW fisheries.

I think I pointed out at one point that shillshe has never made a post longer than a paragraph. It still hold true. Not one post ever longer than a paragraph. Most posts are actually 1-3 sentences. Shillshe demonstrates a rudimentary understanding at best of anything, clearly supported by the lack of any degree of depth with his posts or any thought process.

You know... there is a difference between being a smug prick and being confident with what you say and do. I am confident with what I say and do. I don’t think I am better than anyone else, but perhaps you think that because you don’t know what it is like to have confidence. Maybe if you channel yourself properly into things that pay out you will gain confidence. Trolling people on the darkside is meant to provide entertainment, not be a way of building your confidence.

Anecdotal only - I have been taking 2500 IU of Vitamin D daily because I'm from Western Washington and the natural Vitamin D don't shine all that much. I now live in the Philippines, where Sun delivered Vitamin D is in abundance but I still take the extra Vitamin D. People still die from Covid here but when I got Covid it was a very mild almost asymptomatic case. Again, anecdotal.
