Gender of steelhead on pink worm - 12/22/05 11:48 PM
I have only caught bucks on the pink worm(until today, caught a 8lb hatchery hen, pics coming in a few days). Has anyone noticed that they catch more bucks on pink worms than hens compared to other baits. I don't believe I have ever hooked a hen on the pink worm before today but I have hooked lots of bucks. I usually float fish them and use 4 or 5 inch zipper or seducer worms with 1 or 1/0 gamas. Is this because the bucks are in a more aggressive, angry mode or is just that the fish I happened to hook were bucks?

I think/have found Bucks tend to be more agressive

I've caught both, but the largest steelhead I landed was a buck on the worm.

I beleive you will get more native bucks. However the hens aren't afraid to take a swipe at them either.

You'll catch both, but they really piss off native bucks...they seem to pick off the most aggressive fish in the river, so if there are a few in a hole, I think you'll get the bucks first.
Fish on...
