Ammo Alert ! - 11/11/19 07:23 PM

For those that like to shoot handgun and/or Black Rifle, Walmart has just reduced prices.

Example:
Federal 9mm 115gr Brass 200 pack $30
That's .15 per round

I grabbed about 1500rds today of Federal Brass and Winchester NATO

Pistol and Black Rifle (5.56, .223, 7.62x39) as per their decree of a couple of months ago.
Not sure if 7.62 NATO is on sale.

Re: Ammo Alert ! - 11/18/19 03:57 PM

the 2 by me were never on sale, they made you think it was tho....

they put the yellow clearance tags on it and never adjusted the price...

for instance, you get the white box Winchester 40 round "value pack" for 25 dollars, and as of a few days ago, the yellow clearance tag was removed, and regular tag put back on, and its still 25 bucks...

no thanks, ill buy Aguila 50 round packs for 18.99 at Sportsmans....

1) There's never been a "40 round Value Pack"
2) 50rd pack of Mexican ammo @ 18.99 is no deal at all.
They are stealing your money at that price.
$10/50 is an average price for 9mm range ammo.

The Wally World 9mm prices are :
Federal Red Box 115gr Brass 200rd/$30
Winchester 124gr NATO 150rd/$25

Other pistol ammo and Black Rifle ammo are on clearance as well.

These prices have been in effect nationwide (mostly) for about a week.

its .223 and its a 40 round pack, if its there tomorrow, ill take a picture of it...

the mexican ammo shoots about 3/4 MOA out of my ruger, but im still going with a new barrel soon, want to cut that to .2 MOA...

ahhh...

yeah the 9mm is and was 15 if i remember correctly...

this is being done at 2 WM's here, its like they dont plan on stopping the selling of it, if they were actually doing it, it would be discounted lower than actual every day prices...

they put the clearance tags on there to make people think they are getting a deal, which is deceptive as all hell....

$30 ÷ 200 = .15
I can't reload them for that.

1K of 556 ammo is like a single good, fun afternoon for a couple of dudes. Maybe two afternoons. 1K in ammo sold to SD....well....hmmm. He's legal and within his rights, so more power to him. But fvck oh dear, I see an eye being shot out.

I checked a couple of stores the other day, wanting to pick up a couple of boxes of turkey loads for next month, and the only 12ga. in the stores were a few boxes of 3 1/2" shells. A few more boxes of 20ga., and plenty of 16ga. and 10ga. since almost no one has guns to shoot those.

Ended up online looking, and found that 12ga. was sold out on lots of websites, too...eventually found what I was looking for, but it was a bit of a search.

Fish on...

Re: Ammo Alert ! - 03/19/20 04:23 PM

I needed to buy more shotgun powder this spring at one of the upcoming larger trapshoot's (or have someone get it for me), but those are now canceled! So I've been shopping online this week for the best bulk pricing. All the while I noticed bulk loaded shotgun shell supplies dwindle, plus my desired powders became harder to find or they were getting rationed.

So I pulled the trigger on 32#'s of powder this morning, and that should last me and the boy for the year maybe 2, depending on how much fishing we do instead of shooting. I bought 35K primers last month from a guy from Goldendale, which doubled up my inventory. Have a couple of tons of shot, so we're good for a couple of years for trap, upland birds.

Re: Ammo Alert ! - 03/22/20 10:12 AM

Man, sure wish I could get out and shoot enough to burn 32lbs of powder in a year!

Went to sportsman’s the other day to see if there was any magnum pistol powder left, been wanting to work up some hot .45 colt loads for my Redhawk. It was like pulling teeth to just show me what powder they had in stock. Everyone was just telling me “we barely have anything, probably not what you’re looking for” ok, just show me what you do have then! Finally I got one to open the safe and spotted a 8lber of H110, so that one came home with me. Probably will last me 10 years or more, but don’t have to worry about finding more for a long long time.

I’m well stocked on rifle powder, good thing as most of what I shoot is obsolete commercially or hard to find at the store anyway.

Re: Ammo Alert ! - 03/22/20 09:19 PM

CM, I try to look online at CL and a few other NW based for-sale sites once a week for misc reloading goodies. Every now and then I find something that suites my shotgun needs. The day after I posted, I picked up another 6K 209 primers and 5#'s of Red Dot locally. I will use the powder, and a friend was just asking about primers so I'll pass them on to him.

I vacillate between buying new shotgun shells in bulk or just keep reloading. Even though once I factor in the price/cost of my time, I know I'm WAY ahead just making a bulk purchase out of state and get several pallets of new shells. BUT, I have (3) progressive reloaders and I keep procuring enough components at relative "discount" pricing that I trick-[Bleeeeep!] myself that I'm below the cost of purchasing new shells. In actuality, I just can't break the stigma of being a reloader for 35 years (and being frugal as well).

Does this mean a run on .22 ammo again too? God, I hope not! We don't even shoot them much (and I can shoot at the house), but I'm not a hoarder of rifle stuff. Have enough .22 ammo for a couple of fun-day blasts, but punching paper isn't my thing. Frustrating when things get out of control (especially when you prefer to be in control of things, so I've been told..lol).
