The grandkids and I decided that We needed to learn how to engage in an opportunity that does not require any help from the WDFW, is sustainable for our limited fishing budget, and for this season, had to be centered around a game fish we have never angled for, so Yellow Perch it is.

Now if we can just learn how to tie a good drop shot knot, we should be filleting in no time.

grrrrrrrr enough, I guess welcome back but time to move to on, maybe even talk about fish, wouldn't that be nice.

I got 5 WDFW emails today, 5/24/2022, about openings, extended season, for spring Chinook. These emails came from many areas of the State BUT NOT ONE FROM REGION 6, matter of fact I'm not aware of a spring salmon fishery in all of Region 6. Why is this? The region sure has snow melt waters, sure have spring chinook but limited hatchery production....mmmm why is that?????

Region 6 is good at closing waters because of lack of Native Steelhead, waters have been closed because models came up short, but always after a net fishery was allowed, in the lower river.

Do I have answers, above my pay grade, but I'm not sure some of the WDFW big pay state employees have any answers. No answers, just have to point out the inability of WDFW after now 31 years to get the Wynoochee Mitigation, completed, grrrrrrr

The state should put millions of hatchery salmon in the rivers since there are no wild fish left. The natives and Rec guys can all have enough and there won’t be any fighting. People just need to chill out and fish bro!

The days of huge brats planted are never to return. Even though hatchery fish have proven they are equal to wild fish. Wild fish have shown they are inferior to wild fish. Based on how far back the hatchery smolts have been cut back. Hatchery steelhead still return at a high rate than wilds.

Well I’ve been a daily studier of the Bonniville Dam counts for years. Part of my Community College Masters. What Brewer has been focusing for the last 10 years now is very interesting. Basically since the ACOEs began counting the lamprey passage daily numbers. Now to the average cretan (you reading this) this may not register.

For example today’s Dam count was non clipped steelhead of 2864. The non clipped Lamprey was 2862. It’s a very sad stat to say the least.

Brewer recalls when the release all wild steelhead regulation began. It’s easy to figure out the ones born after this time frame. You ask Brewer how this is. It’s easy. These guys only cast bobbers for everything. Basically the gender challenged group.

Nearly 40 years of this required “wild steelhead release”. The wild steelhead still show they are inferior to hatchery steelhead. 2022 with extreme hatchery smolt releases to a minute portion of the 50s 60s 70s 80s. The hatchery (clipped) still return at higher numbers over the Bonni Dam.

In my conclusion these superior in genetics wild steelhead have reduced themselves into the numbers of lamprey. Now that Brewer has brought this to your attention. Feel free to follow this progress as the summer moves on. Trust me the lamprey (tortoise) wins this race.

One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.

I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.
