For Hood Canal wild coho anyway. Although I am completely sick over the Columbia gillnet shait and the big K makes me want to puke even more over Lk. Wa. and many other things, I did go and fish a little Hood Canal trib. over the weekend (Gooose and Cleo know which one) and I encountered numerous late wild coho - some still bright eek . These are the fish I remember from the early 70's and before the "Blums Desert" years. I had thought they were exticnt by now but apparently not. It's the first sign I've seen of a run in a river with intact habitat finally beginning to recover once the commercial and sport kill fisheries are gone. But it took 2 decades. In rivers like the Columbia and Cedar, where the habitat is dammed, dredged, diked, and damaged, there will be no recovery after the "Koenings Desert" years.

Oh yeah, and it would have been nice to see a steelhead in that little river... frown

The fishing was GREAT! The catching could have used some improvement however........
