At the risk of sounding like an educated elitist who can spell, until the folks who clearly didn't pay attention in civics class learn how the electoral college works, they're never going to understand stuff like that...

So? Are you saying it's too late to write in the third party candidate of my choice?? ...well that doesn't sound very "democratic"

I've been watching the Senate races more and more. It looks like an additional 3 seats may be coming around at this point. A bit early on 2 of them, but that NC seat is trending away from Dole lately. Originally I had been thinking a 5 seat gain, but things are starting to unravel a bit for the R's lately. While I wouldn't say more than 5 seats is for sure, it'd be foolish not to think it's possible. If Kentucky and Mississippi come into play, the magic number of 60 is right over the horizon at that point. House races are interesting also,. On a subscription site I use, there has been some polling on about 40 GOP seats showing under 50%, perilous for an incumbent. Looking at a 50 seat Dem advantage sort of House number is almost a given at this point. Tack a 'sea change' result of an additional 20 onto that, and you have a GOP that is decimated, powerless, and frankly, irrelevant. Now I don't think that is particularly good for the country in general, but given the nature of the GOP these days, I am willing to make an exception to that general thought............ Hopefully the GOP will clean up it's act, take out the trash within their party, and reclaim it from the empire building neocons, and fundy whack jobs like Palin who talk about seeing human and dinosaur foortprints together.............. The speculation of a 'sea change' election hasn't impressed my more 'conservative' view as to how elections unfold, but at some point it has to enter the picture as a possible scenario here. Realistically, if things don't turn around for the GOP within 15 days, if Palin makes a major blunder, or McCain't continues to be called out as a liar (something has really gained 'traction' as of late), the numbers could cascade against the GOP, all the way down the line.

I can see 6-8 senate seats coming the way of the Dems, but a lot of it hinges on the success (or lack thereof) of McSame/Failin'...
The "Palin making a major blunder" part is, frankly, almost a foregone conclusion...her debate with Biden is going to be disastrous. Besides not knowing what she's talking about, she has a bad habit of just making chit up when she doesn't know what she's talking about...in this debate, she will have ample opportunity to make chit up, since she'll amply not know what she's talking about...and she'll take that opportunity by the horns.
McSame took a beating on the failed bailout bill today...

Well I think the GOP is sandbagging on Palin a bit, and seeing as they didn't get the big debate movement after Friday, I'm guessing the Palin sandbag/lower expectations is next in the bag of tricks.
I don't think she is bright mind you, but if she shows that she can stand on the same stage with Biden, it will be good enough.
CBS has some more tape...........and she evdently can't name a single SCOTUS case other than Rowe v Wade, no fumbling and typical regurgitation of supplied talking points, just numb silence. Should be up Wednesday/ Thursday.
Guess the 'handlers' didn't giver any answers for an unanticipated question.
Tomorrows trackers will be a better gague of how the debate went numbers wise, but it's getting perilous for the GOP, they need to catch a break, and so far their grandstanding and showboating hasn't paid off, and there were some risks taken.
The 'Maverick' has become 'The Gelding'..................

...and she evdently can't name a single SCOTUS case other than Rowe v Wade, ... How could the Govenor of Alaska not be able to quickly recall the SCOTUS decision that significantly reduced the punitive damages against Exxon? You'd think she'd WANT to bring that up often...unless she's more inclined to support Exxon instead of Alaskans. I have guarded optimism about her poor performance on Thursday. She did pretty well in her gubernatorial debates; not because she knew the material, but only because of her charm and beauty. Not two qualities I'm particularly interested about in my VP choice.

Sorry to have bring this to the front again but..... CNN has Obama at over 300 E.C. votes with out iincluding Flordia or Colorado http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/map/polling/index.htmlI doubt the mud slinging is going to change it in McCains favor. John Sidney McCain III is out for the count.

I'm still voting for Ron Paul - in fact, if they allow me to take a snapshot with my cell phone, I'll post it here as proof.
Any reason that would be illegal?

Take a picture of a bikini clad woman casting her vote instead mike................ As an aside, the election projection site, (as opposed to a poll aggregator) that came the closest in 2004 got 48 of 50 states correct, and missed the final vote total by 3 EV's. Margin of error on EV's........lets see...........off by 3 out of 538 possible Ev's.................. Probably worth checking out what they are currently projecting right now. Naw................why bother.
