So I think Caribou Barbie will probably do ok. Maybe some gaffes, maybe a few well written for her zings, and maybe even some original content.
That being said, I doubt if in the end, a VP debate will sway the voters, probably good for a news cycle or two, but outside of that, not a lot.

Being as the expectations for her have been managed down to the point where if she remains awake and standing for 90 minutes, it'll be considered a 'win' by the GOP.

Biden will have to be shorter than he is used to in his answers, and should be going after McCain't, and going after him hard. Biden makes his share of gaffes, and so I'd expect one or more from both of them. What Biden needs to do is not come off as ripping Caribou Barbie for being an airhead, but gently elicit some comments from her that show some original thought.

If he makes her cry, or she gets all misty eyed after a tough critique from Biden (50/50 chance on that one) things might turn out different for her.

I'll be watching on the innertubes tonight, and was wondering who else will be watching, and what your 'predictions' are for the debate.

I like Dennis Miller's advice for Palin..scream out during the debate that Biden pinched her ass under the table.

VP debates seldom have any significant effect on the election. This one may have a bit more than most due to all the hype.

Bottom line is Americans seems to be concluding that she is not in any way ready to be president. If she reinforces that tonight she may lose McCain a few points. If she comes across as knowledgable and articulate she may get McCain a few points. If she comes across as a right wing wack job, she will gain a few of the 27% crowd and lose at least as many of the remaining voters. My prediction. Two Biden gaffes, three Palin gaffes. Total effect zero.

Palin should do just fine. She has been beefing up her Foreign relations experience all week.

After all.... You can see Mexico from McCains Ranch in Arizona.

I think it depends on what she talks about...if she talks about what she knows, what she intends to do, what her experience is...then she's sunk.

If she does what most Repubs do when they have nothing of substance to say about themselves, which is talk about Obama instead, she might gain a little traction, though if it's of the utterly factless variety like her convention speech, she'll still only be speaking to the 25% or so that don't mind she doesn't know what she's talking about.

If she can talk mostly about Obama, and has had a few actual facts hammered into her head while at Chateau McSame, then she might be OK...

It depends on what the mods let her talk about...if she's forced by them or Biden to talk about herself, then it could get ugly.

I know...and it's about the rise of black politicians over the past century, which ends right now with Obama...as far as black politicians go, it is the "age of Obama"...he's the most visible black politician, and is about to be elected President.

Either way, they both have to answer the same questions, and when questions are asked that Biden has an answer to, and Palin is clueless about, that's relevant.

Maybe Ted Nugent can moderate the debate and ask about moose hunting...the Palin would have a clue.

By this time tomorrow, the right will be 'outraged' (think 'lipstick on a pig)over some perceived slight or attack Biden made on Palin.............and whining will be all over the place, especially the wingnut blogosphere, which of course is to be expected.
There will be calls for Biden to apologize, and commentators will 'discuss' what it all means in the context of the election'.

It'll be nonsense of course, but it will happen, largely due to the fact that GOP has nothing else going in it's favor right now. Without some pathetic excuse to be 'outraged', they'll just slip into the dustbin of history for another 40 years.

If I run a Dem campaign, any campaign local or national, I am telling my people that Friday morning we start ramping it up to 120% power, and put the nails in the GOP coffin for good. Bury them, take no prisoners, and go after each and every race like it is the only race we might win. Scorched earth, no quarter, flat out slaughter time.
That's what needs to happen to the GOP for them, as a party to clean up their act, clear out the empire builders and wingnuts who took the party away from the common sense conservatives who once had a voice there.

Anything less than that and the current GOP top dogs will remain in power, and continue to marginalize and ruin the GOP brand.

Prediction for tonight:

1. Palin will say virtually nothing of substance about herself or McCain't.

2. She will steer every question into a comment about Obama, or at least Biden, and though most will be fact free, the RWWJ's will eat it up.

3. She, and the entire Right Wing Nation, will be holding their breath for Biden to say anything...anything at all...that can be misconstrued into any sort of "disrespect for a lady" possible.

4. She has a list of zingers just waiting for that perceived moment.

5. She'll get flustered, and use one of the zingers for no apparent reason whatsoever...it will be her form of how RWWJ's always invoke Clinton when they have nothing at all of substance to say.

6. At least once she will respond to a question like it was asked in a foreign language...or, like the Kouric interview, will just stare straight ahead like a deer in the headlights...this would be a good opportunity to throw out one of the pre-prepared zingers, or lacking that, blame it on Clinton.

7. People will wonder which drugs she is on, and if she got them from Rush.

8. RWWJ's will declare complete and utter victory!!

9. It won't matter one bit, as the electoral map is rapidly making it mathematically impossible for McSame/Failin' to get enough electoral votes to win the election.

I'm with KK on this purge of the RINO's and wannabe Repubs. Let's get back to the call for less Govt. and more personal responsibility.

But while we're at it, let's also purge the Dems that want to take us further into a country that is beholden to Govt. handouts and wealth redistribution.

I fear a Congress run by the likes of Pelosi and Reid. We have some serious economic problems that can only be rectified by sensible leaders and they don't cut the mustard.
