So I think Caribou Barbie will probably do ok. Maybe some gaffes, maybe a few well written for her zings, and maybe even some original content.
That being said, I doubt if in the end, a VP debate will sway the voters, probably good for a news cycle or two, but outside of that, not a lot.

Being as the expectations for her have been managed down to the point where if she remains awake and standing for 90 minutes, it'll be considered a 'win' by the GOP.

Biden will have to be shorter than he is used to in his answers, and should be going after McCain't, and going after him hard. Biden makes his share of gaffes, and so I'd expect one or more from both of them. What Biden needs to do is not come off as ripping Caribou Barbie for being an airhead, but gently elicit some comments from her that show some original thought.

If he makes her cry, or she gets all misty eyed after a tough critique from Biden (50/50 chance on that one) things might turn out different for her.

I'll be watching on the innertubes tonight, and was wondering who else will be watching, and what your 'predictions' are for the debate.

I like Dennis Miller's advice for Palin..scream out during the debate that Biden pinched her ass under the table.

VP debates seldom have any significant effect on the election. This one may have a bit more than most due to all the hype.

Bottom line is Americans seems to be concluding that she is not in any way ready to be president. If she reinforces that tonight she may lose McCain a few points. If she comes across as knowledgable and articulate she may get McCain a few points. If she comes across as a right wing wack job, she will gain a few of the 27% crowd and lose at least as many of the remaining voters. My prediction. Two Biden gaffes, three Palin gaffes. Total effect zero.

Palin should do just fine. She has been beefing up her Foreign relations experience all week.

After all.... You can see Mexico from McCains Ranch in Arizona.

I think it depends on what she talks about...if she talks about what she knows, what she intends to do, what her experience is...then she's sunk.

If she does what most Repubs do when they have nothing of substance to say about themselves, which is talk about Obama instead, she might gain a little traction, though if it's of the utterly factless variety like her convention speech, she'll still only be speaking to the 25% or so that don't mind she doesn't know what she's talking about.

If she can talk mostly about Obama, and has had a few actual facts hammered into her head while at Chateau McSame, then she might be OK...

It depends on what the mods let her talk about...if she's forced by them or Biden to talk about herself, then it could get ugly.

I know...and it's about the rise of black politicians over the past century, which ends right now with Obama...as far as black politicians go, it is the "age of Obama"...he's the most visible black politician, and is about to be elected President.

That's pretty newsworthy.

Either way, they both have to answer the same questions, and when questions are asked that Biden has an answer to, and Palin is clueless about, that's relevant.

Maybe Ted Nugent can moderate the debate and ask about moose hunting...the Palin would have a clue.

McCain said he had no problem with the moderator, then he did, then he didn't. If each person gets the same questions I see no issue. Her book will sell no matter what. A failed atempt at the presidency for a black man is also big news.

Simple Dan....if she knows what Palin is weak in and Obama's strong points, she can ask questions that Obama might be better at answering.
