Well, the part about the RWWJ's declaring victory, with no regard for facts of logic...I was sure right about that part. On the other hand, she did a lot better than I thought she would. Still very shy on facts, and her logic was a little shaky at times, but she was obviously well prepared and regurgitated the talking points as answers to every question. She used the same mischaracterizations that have already been debunked since McSame used them in the last debate, and the commentators are already eating that up. (I can hear O'Reilly ranting in the other room...and when you hear O'Reilly just yelling rather than talking, it means even he doesn't believe what he is saying...watch him some time, when he's right, he's mellow, when he's making chit up, he yells. He's yelling right now.) Failin's idea to put the US embassy in Jerusalem is about as retarded, stupid, and dangerous things anyone on the right has said in a while...in spite of her proximity to Russia ( ), she clearly has no idea what the implications of her...uhhh..."foreign policy"...ideas are. Honestly, I was looking forward to a few "deer in the headlights" moments for her...but she was well enough coached that when she didn't have any idea what to say, she just said something unrelated... "Sorry if I don't answer the questions the way the moderator or Joe likes"... ...or, "excuse me if I don't answer the question at all, but instead regurgitate an already debunked lie from the last debate..."... That being said, the RWWJ's still think she's the cat's meow, the other 75% of the country still knows she's unfit to govern a Subway restaurant, and nothing much has changed. To be honest, the fact that nothing much has changed is about the best outcome the Right Wing Nation could have possibly hoped for...so in that context, she did just fine. For the RWWJ's, the unfortunate result of nothing changing is that McSame will continue to slide in the polls, and the mathematical chances of him winning the electoral college vote continues to diminish... Fish on... Todd

You're an honest man about that Sal.
She didn't self destruct, but the contrast was pretty clear, especially when you look at her answers to some of the questions.
I figured she'd do about as well as she did.
However, if it were anyone other than Palin, this debate would be looked at objectively as a rout by Biden.
He had actual answers to questions, while Palin had few answers, and lots of talking points.
The winking at the beginning was ridiculous, what was that all about ?

Didn't watch it. Decided to talk to a plumber who will do out shop. Much more satisfying.

Well no one wants to see a grown man cry but KK said in the other thread that Palin would cry....so yeah....I find it funny (& obviously rehearsed btw). Can you imagine if it were her, remember when Hillary cried & they all called foul (including you if I remember right). Palin is not the type to cry. The smart ones don't get too emotional. Forgot to say earlier -Good JOB PALIN - slam dunk - way to go! Drill Baby Drill! She could forget more about energy than any of the other canidates will ever know.

Feel like a heel now?

Palin stood toe to toe with Biden and spewed BS just as casually as Joe. It was impressive watching Palin spar and hold her ground, against a political lifer. Biden should be ashamed he was on the same leverl as Palin. Palin is definatly back in a big way, but she would probably be better off if only her name was on the ticket.

Not only an asshole, but just as I predicted, a RWWJ who, against all facts and logic, thinks that Palin won. Slam dunk? Hardly. Remember, slow water poo, no one has any need of convincing you...it's the "thinkers" who need to be convinced, and I doubt any of them changed their minds whatsoever. Fish on... Todd

That being said, if it was anyone other than Caribou Barbie, it would be called a hands down win for Biden. Like Dave said, in a week no one will care.

bwp,
Stop digging.
Anyone can cry about the death of a spouse or child, or in Biden's case, both.

Something like that. Then we get to see the 'Angry Gelding' again, and have him debate a man for 90 minutes, and be unable to look him in the eye, like last time. Something is wrong when it comes to McCain' t, I think it's probably repressed anger about having to continue to run a campaign that has been tanking for a couple of weeks now. I mean, it's voilitale, and things can change, but coming across as he has been (Watch the Iowa Newspaper Video of his meeting with the Editorial board) isn't helping him. Fox is talking about the fact that Palin is 'good looking', once again pandering to Sport Jet and slow water poo..............

There's a difference between attacking someone in a debate to the point where they break down, and remembering the death of your family members.
If you can't tell the difference, seek prefessional help .

Your right Dan. Maybe I do feel like a heel now - just that KK wanted Palin to cry.....said people don't like it when you make women cry in public (as if making them cry in private is okay). It wasn't funny -I was just jabbing at KK...dang KK always leads me into trouble! Sorry people, not funny...I'm not really an ass (well yeah..I admit...I am sometimes).

I'm glad Biden finally put that maverick crap to bed. I was getting sick and tired of that bs from her.
Notice she couldn't come up with a single policy change her and Grampy would have from bush?
And she tried to get Biden on looking back and focusing on the past when he attacked bush; someone should try and explain to her that bush will be in office for another four months.

What I said was clear, in or out of context, either way a third grader could understand what I wrote. You're getting towards the bottom of the feces filled bucket of wingnuts that post here. Saying that I wanted Palin to cry in a futile, lame attempt to cover your own ass, one that is obviously lacking in the most basic of human decency is about as low as I've seen anyone go around here.

If I were playing one of those internet inspired debate/drinking games and had to have a shot whenever the word "Maverick" was used, I wouldn't be in any condition to write this.
To start, I was a little apprehensive about Ifill but found she did an admirable job. No hardball questions for Palin and no softball questions for Biden. I had no feeling that she was anything but impartial.
Palin has a lot of rough edges and lacks a great deal of knowledge on foreign affairs. To say the least. She does however talk to middle America and she does that in a language they understand. She has a great deal of self confidence and she handled herself far better than I imagined she would.
Her statement regarding putting the U.S Embassy in Jerusalem is in lock step with the Israeli's plans to move their seat of Govt. there. It makes sense to put an embassy there as well.
Talking points were regurgitated by both. At a time of anger about gas prices and oil company profits it's a very opportune time to talk about that and Biden was Johnny on the spot with profit figures and proposed tax breaks. Palin made the error of omission by not pointing out those tax break figures would be the result of a reduction in the corporate tax rate. It would be hard to argue at this point that giving businesses a better chance of being competitive and more profitable in the international market is not a good thing.
In fact, raising taxes on anybody right now that has the means for investing their money would, in my opinion, be a very hazardous thing. We need more investment right now to get this economy back on track.
Palin spent a great deal of time with the campaign talking points and that was to be expected. In the VP debates that is what is supposed to be done. You spend your time in the spotlight pointing out the policy differences between each Presidential candidate and your belief that your party has the better idea.
Do I think she is ready to be the Prez at this time? No. Do I think she is intelligent enough to learn how to be Prez? Yes I do.
It would be surprising to me if McCain's poll numbers didn't go up as a result of this debate. I have been wrong before. We'll just have to see what transpires.
