Thanks for proving my point wink

You might as well have laid it on a tee for me Chuck. Pointing out his average after 8 AB's with the team?? Talk to me at All-Star break next year then we'll see how good of a trade this turned out to be.

I'll leave the politics to KK and 4Skin because they're so very knowledgable on everything that should be done to make this country great again. thumbs

Lol. Thats what I love this place...

His BA is just setting the tone. Waiting til next all Star break is way too long. I am amazed how this team keeps pissing away seasons so early.

Next on the M's turd list ... Bedard wink

it was a good trade for the M's, this season is already a done deal with or without Lee.

How the hell do you write off a season not even 1/2 way through it?

So next year when we are again sitting less than .500 we make more genius trades? what then?

Trade felix next season for a .217 hitter? rofl

Maybe you should leave the baseball stuff to them too, or salmosalar.

Not true...

I see you have reading comprehension issues. Try to stay with me here.

Go back to the beginning of the thread,......I stated this was a good trade before salmosalar ever jumped in the fray. I agreed with him because he's right.

The point I stated Chuck helped to prove was that most M's fans are clueless about baseball. Evident by his pointing to Smoak's 8 AB's as some sort of indicator as to how this trade will pan out over time.

If I used big colored spelling blocks would it be more helpful?

The M.'s are a statistical lock not to make the playoffs. Do the math. They are 13 games out with 75 or so to play. The season is over.
The M.'s have been bad not because they constantly "rebuild" but because under Bavasi they threw money around and could not build from the inside, bottom up. Beltre, Bedard, Sexson, Silva etc. handcuffed the team. The M.'s have spent monry. It just hasn't worked. In fact free agent signings generally don't. They are very risky and inefficient.

Chuck,

It's a square peg round hole argument. Your recolection of history is backwards. When were they last "sellers" at the deadline?

Go Red Sox,
cds

Be the optimist if you want, but the season for us is over. Since the addition of the wild card there has only been 2 teams with a sub .500 record at the All-Star break make the playoffs (Twins and Reds), both those teams were only 1 game under .500, not the 9 or so the Mariners are. And since the 2d and 3d place teams in the East have a better record than the rest of the American league, there is no way we could get the wild card let alone win the Division.

Too bad we can't trade Ichiro before he gets too old in baseball years.

Ichiro's value is greater to the M.'s than any other team. He attracts a lot of fans to the stadium. He also makes 17 mil. or so. If you were to trade him you would either recieve very little in return or be required to pay his salary.

Ichiro is a real unique player who is very hard to put a value on. He hits for very little power at a power position, is unable to hit outside the leadoff spot due to his lack of power and remarkable amount of infield hits, doesn't walk, and is expensive.

On the other hand he gets lots of hits, is the best defensive RF'er in the game, runs the bases well, and creates revenue. I have never been able to figure out if he's undervalued or overvalued. I suspect that on a better team he'd be a better player.

He's almost untradable though. His salary and age would not allow for him to bring much back. On the other hand he may play well into his forties given his fitness level.
