I'd be willing to NOT go to the playoffs in that scenario. Sing needs to be gone and the Niners need to be in a position to get the best available QB in the draft. Lockjaw isn't the answer (you Fawks can have him) but Mallett could be around.

If we can't get a decent QB, a shut-down DB would be in order.

No way in hell the Niners beat the Chargers...I can realistically see the Rams and Hawks going into the last week of the season, both at 6-9, and the winner goes to the playoffs with a 7-9 record, hosts a playoff game, and gets their asses handed to 'em.

Niners are mathematically still in it...but only mathematically.

This is how it has to work for the Niners to even whiff the playoffs. Bear in mind this was written two days ago.

As poorly as the 49ers have played this year, their shot for making the playoffs is somewhere between plausible and pretty good. They can even lose on Thursday night in San Diego and still go. The 49ers need to beat Seattle at home Sunday, and then go to St. Louis and win there and finally, defeat the Cardinals at home to finish the rest of the season 3-1. Meanwhile, the Seahawks have to go on a three-game losing steak starting Sunday. They have to lose to the Falcons at home, Tampa Bay on the road and the Rams.

The Rams must lose to the 49ers, New Orleans on the road, and the Chiefs at home. Under this scenario, all three teams would finish 7-9 and the 49ers would win the tie-breakers. So for the 49ers to go to the playoffs, only one mild upset will need to be pulled off, and that's the 49ers beating St. Louis in Missouri on the day after Christmas.

the 49ers played a great game hank. hawks played very poor.

WOW,been a tough 20 hours of suicide watch as I climbed the tallest fir tree in my back yard in the middle of the 3rd period and was gonna jump.Not,JK.#8 single handedly gave the game away,it was brutal to witness."Hank" we are now even.Finally for the first time ever I'm gonna bash the #1 QB in "HAWK'S" history.Don't know what has happened to ole Matt but it's time to go @ the end of the season,he will be a good back for someone else,maybe even the "Hawk's" if he could swallow his pride and take a pay cut to stay.The "HAWK'S" need to really go after Kolb from the eagle's if ya ask me,seem's like a good fit.I don't wanna draft a QB.Need to get a good free agent.The "HAWK'S" will go 7-9 and beat the lambs @ qwest,but hopefully miss the play-off's cause I don't want to be the first team in NFL history to win the division @ 7-9 and host a play-off game.So maybe there is hope for your Whinners,Hank.We have seen the future QB for the "HAWK'S" this season play and it wasn't pretty,Clip board Jesus need's to go also.Good luck,

It was a GREAT game yesterday if you're a Niners fan...not so much if you root for the Fawks. My sympathies...sorta.

One other thing; the Fawks aren't gonna sniff the playoffs so there's no need for you to worry about that...
