I just buy whatever Berkshire does, but the Magic 8 Ball deal sounds worth a try.

The European Bailout Explained

Good video Hank. As we are seeing today there is no demand for the EFSF paper bailout designed to remedy this situation, & China makes good on its threat to not be perceived as the dumb money any more. They thought they could issue E5 billion in bonds, and there isn't even demand for E2 billion. The bonds are attracting little interest.

Today the hangover from this bailout is a horrendous frontal lobal headache. Speaking metaphorically, The central banks try to give everyone drugs to give us a high. Howver the world is building tolerance and requires more drugs for the same affect, with withdrawal symptoms getting worse.

Reality is setting in....

When will they realise that the problem is caused by the drugs and we need to go Cold Turkey?

All of those hedge funds don't make all of those low taxed billions just by selling.

So how many of you market experts have gotten rich based on your indepth knowledge ofwhat the market will or won't do next. It's really quite easy. You can buy market basket indexed funds. If you are sure it will tank, sell short. If you are sure it will go up buy
long. Instant wealth!

Not me, I dont have enough fun money to dabble, and not sure I would participate even if I did. Certainties in the marketplace as about as rare as Randy Poteet waking up without a hangover..... grin

Hangover is in full effect today and light sheds on the Merkel-Sarkozy superdeal. I think their bowl of Hopium is cashed...

Takes a lot of money to make a lot of money.....unless you are one of the Chosen Few who buys something like Microsoft when they initially opened, bought a few thousand dollars worth, and now are one the Forbes 500 "Richest People in the World" list.

But, if you can qualify "rich" as beating the market and the S&P500 over the last 5 years, then yes.

Join or form an investment club. Learn aout investing and it will and should pay off. Invest smart, invest for the long-term, and pay attention to the world around you, one will probably end up OK by tinkering around in the market.

PS. I no longer (and haven't for a while) thought the market was/is going to crash, let alone drop down to the 5-6,000 range. You gotta admit though, it DID drop down to 6,800 which was pretty damn close to my prediction a couple of years ago. Never said it wasn't going to rebound quickly, did I?

Dow 11,657.96 -297.05 -2.48%

Musta' been a raunchy one wink

New fears about the fate of the European rescue plan reverberated through stock markets in the United States and around the world.
Stocks were hit hard early in the day after Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou made a surprise call for a public vote on Greece's bailout -- raising questions about a carefully crafted rescue plan agreed to only last week. Conflicting reports later in the day about whether the referendum will indeed occur kept investors on edge.
The Dow Jones industrial average sank 297 points, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq each fell about 3%.
The day's selloff puts the S&P 500 and Nasdaq back in negative territory for the year, while the Dow is up just 0.7% in 2011.
