Let's legalize all drugs and set up houses tweakers can break into and steal stuff. Then we can have gubmint subsidized opium dens, heroin shooting galleries and hookah palaces for the potheads. That should be less expensive than incarcerating addicts and the clean needles will help prevent the spread of AIDS. Ah Hank, I think the idea of legalization of drugs comes from the premise that it would reduce the price, which in turn would reduce the need to steal.

With 317,000 dropping off unemployment rolls and 50% of the 120,000 private sector hires being holiday hires, I don't see much to be excited about. They will skew the stats Jerry ... just watch. I am wondering when the debates start and Obooby is on the stage ... what accomplishments is he going to portray?

President Obama’s speech in Kansas today (where, by the way, Obama said “It’s Great to be Back in Texas!” ) included a firm denunciation of the “breathtaking greed” of wealthy Wall Street executives that “plunged our economy and the world into a crisis.” Meanwhile, the Senate Agriculture Committee voted unanimously to subpoena billionaire/former politician Jon Corzine — Obama’s “Wall Street Guy” and top campaign bundler (more than $500,000 raised so far this year) — over his role in the $1.2 billion investment fraud surrounding the collapse of brokerage firm MF Global. Anybody see any sort of conflict there? It's probably just me.

Well, we agree on that one Hank. Sooo, if the election were tomorrow who would you vote for?
I will go first. Huntsman, Romney, Obama Paul are tied with me. Huntsman I do not know enough about to make an informed decision, but what I know I like. Romney is a serial flip flopper- who knows where he stands on any issue - Obama is incompetent. Paul has good intentions but his radical stances like legalizing heroin will keep him from ever becoming a serious cantidate. Damn poor choices, but as I see it they are all we have. IMO the appearance of Obama's incompetence is just a cover to make people think he is advocating for the general population and just can't cut it when in reality he is doing what his real "base" ,Wall St and the multinational corporations want. They own him. I would be tempted to vote for Ron Paul just to see an end to the wars and get the FED out of the bankers control and back in the Treasury ,where it originally was. The problem with him for me is his Ayn Rand free market deregulation BS that has been proven disastrous where ever implemented. He has a snowballs chance in hell of getting elected President just for his position on the FED alone. The bankers will see to that.

It's just you Hank. We libtards only see conflicts like this when the administration is Republican, and we do it only to balance out the likes of you. I just wanted to see if we were on the same page on this; thanks for clarifying that for me.

You'll probably want to change your mind on that Dave. Huntsman bows to right wing, reverses position on climate science At an oil-sponsored event at the Heritage Foundation, presidential candidate Jon Huntsman reversed his prior defense of climate science. Huntsman, who famously mocked his fellow candidates for questioning global warming in August, was asked by NewsBusters blogger Lachlan Markey if humans contribute to climate change. Huntsman said that the "scientific community owes us more": "I don't know, I'm not a scientist, nor am I a physicist, but I would defer to science ... The scientific community owes us more in terms of a better description or explanation about what might lie beneath all of this. But there's not information right now to formulate policies in terms of addressing it overall, primarily because it's a global issue." When TalkingPointsMemo reporter Evan McMorris-Santoro asked if Huntsman had changed his postion, he replied that there is "debate" in the scientific community, including "questions" raised "by a university in Scotland": "I'm not a physicist, I'm not a scientist. I tend to defer to those who do it for a living. I'd be prepared to take it out of the political milieu and put it into the scientific milieu. There are questions about the validity of the science -- evidence by one university over in Scotland recently." http://www.grist.org/climate-skeptics/20...climate-science

Battleground-State Voters Leaving the Democratic Party President Obama and his re-election team have prided themselves on their well-oiled get-out-the-vote effort. But a new study from the centrist think tank Third Way suggests Democrats are losing ground organizationally in nearly all of the key battleground states in the general election. The group's analysis found that, in the eight politically-pivotal states that register voters by party, a significant number have left the Democratic party since 2008, with many choosing to register as independents. Over 825,000 registered Democrats in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina and Pennsylvania have departed the party rolls since President Obama's election in 2008, a much more significant share than the number of Republicans (378,000) who have done the same. Meanwhile, the number of registered independents has ticked upwards by 254,000.
