Locker isn't even on the radar screen around here.

Niners will most likely pick a CB or OLB with pass-rush skills in the 1st and get a QB they can groom in the later rounds. If they can get Josh Johnson from Tampa Bay for a 2nd or 3rd pick he might be here.

There's still a possibility they'll throw some bids for Fumblebeck too...

I'll be giving a full Niner report as soon as I see all of the new coaching staff in place.

Some mocks are showing Mason Foster going ahead of Locker at # 56 I like Foster but wouldn't waste a second rounder on him.

Gannon had his best year as a Raider when Harbaugh was QB coach. Josh Johnson threw 42 TD passes with 1 INT and had a QB rating of 197 during his senior year when Harbaugh was the coach at USD. You ever hear about that Andrew Luck guy?

I'd have to say Harbaugh could dig up Tiny Tim and make him All-Pro..he could probably even make Clipboard a decent QB...

We just might have Alexis back next year if the CBA thing doesn't settle soon. He'll be a better Alexis I'm sure..but he's still gonna overthrow dump passes and piss me off. I figure the Lambs will take the NFC West next year and then it's the Niner's turn.

For now Ill just go back to those fond, fond memories sitting at Qwest in week 1 and watching the Hawks just beat on the Whiners and send their entire season into an immediate crash n burn...ahh that was fun!!!

And I'll reflect on the ass-whuppin' the Niners handed to the Fawks as payback. Fumblebeck was in fine form that game...

One BIG difference SPankyy, your season was a disaster from week 1 thanks to Seattle whereas we won the division and thumped defending world champs in playoffs!!LOLOLOL

San Francisco 49ers

Top needs: QB, OLB, WR, CB

Summary: You'll hear Smith called the first big reach of Round 1, but he wouldn't have lasted long at all past the No. 7 slot where the Niners nabbed him. And beyond the obvious question at quarterback, an outside linebacker who can rush the quarterback was the biggest position of need for this team, and if Smith continues on his developmental path, he could be a star. Jim Harbaugh found a quarterback he can develop with Kaepernick in Round 2, but even with the run on quarterbacks, I saw that as a reach. There's a lot of development needed. San Fran did hit on other top needs at cornerback and wide receiver, and got decent value in Hunter for depth at running back. Kilgore also offers a little more depth at guard. It's all about what happens at quarterback in terms of how we judge the success of the 2011 49ers, but I judge this weekend as a relative success. It's just a small worry when your first two picks both have development requirements.

I think the Niners were #3 in the NFL in sacks last year. They were suckin' hind teat in passing yards allowed. My feeling is they needed DB help more than they needed a pass rusher. That's probably one of the many reasons I'm not the Niner G.M.
