Rumor is the Seahawks have the checkbook out.
Todays USA today has Harbaugh saying "he would be a great fit as a 49'er"
The Fish need someone and he would be a good fit there.
Who is gonna take the chance on him?

I hope the Hawks dont do it. I'm tired of Seattle being a safe haven for players to retire. Sure he is awesome but he's old and is overcoming some pretty serious injury. The hawks would have to build around him imediatley which would most likely suffer on the defensive money where they have been making some great improvements. The new offensive line has talent for sure but their not ready to protect Peyton they way he needs to be protected. The Seahawks need a mobile quarterback out of the pocket for a couple of seasons with stability at talent and coaching on the line before a guy like Peyton could come in. By then he'd be retired and you be left with a team built for Peyton with no Peyton. Bad move for the Hawks IMO.
I heard an outlier on the radio this morning that I think would be great for him. The Texans. Great backs, great defense, top of the line receivers and tight end, warm weather, and same division with a chance to stick it to the Colts.

Hardly afford him after paying for "the Beast" going into his six year in the NFL. Not impressed with that move. Save the money on RB's and spend it on the line. A great back can not run behind a crappy line but a decent back can look great behind a strong line. Same thing with QB's. Spend on the guys up front.
Just say no to Peyton +10000

What I want to know is does the 18 mil "beast mode" get us more than 7-9 this year, or is it 18 mil to keep the fans interested?

Just say no to Peyton +10000 And a RB that runs through tackles at the line of scrimmage makes a crappy offensive line look better than what they are.

A banger back like the beast has at most 8 years in the NFL before serious dropping off in stats. That means 2 more years before Lynch hits the wall all backs like him go through. 18 mil for those two years with little chance of him running us to a SB. Not worth it. Longer carriers up front and plan for the future not for two seasons. Same with a QB.
Look to build a great team in the years to come. 18 mil on the beast and what it would cost for Peyton.....Bad moves. I will still be there screaming one way or the other but that could keep us a 8-8 teams for many years to come.

Well if our line would stay healthy we would actually be able to use the TE in the passing game and if we can also keep our WR's healthy so we have a deep threat would mean Lynch would not have to bang as much. If you don't at least have the threat of a decent running game you can kiss whatever QB you put back there good bye because the defense will just pin their ears pack and rush the hell out of him.

i say do it... there is also rumors that the Hawks are willing to take Wayne in a package deal with Manning... if Manning is healthy, do you realize what this would do in the division?
imagine...
3 WR sets, Rice, Williams, Wayne... Baldwin, Wayne, Obamanu... Baldwin, Wayne, RIce... ect...
4WR sets Rice, Williams, Wayne, Baldwin ect...
then you have Zach MIller, and Lynch/Washington... if healthy, we could obliderate every team in the West, and possibly the NFC.. Manning could teach Portis a thing or 50 as well, or, we could still have the option of getting a Tannehil, or Kellen Moore in the draft, to learn under Peyton for a couple years.... im all for it, sign Peyton NOW....

I'm surprised the Mariners aren't bidding on him what with their propensity to buy has been worn out players!

The Peyton Sweepstakes as per the talking heads....
Arizona Redskins Miami Denver Seattle 49ers
Being a Tennessee man, methinks the legendary finish to great career would be taking the Titans to a SB. (and winning)

If Seattle is going to go after players coming off injuries, I say go after Texan free agent DE Mario Williams.

It is all about the signing bonus these days. He'll never earn a total of $100 million on his next contract.

the problem with not going after Manning IMO is who do we have for QB? no one.. even if we draft one, 2/3rds of all QBs flop in the NFL, will we get a Brady in the 6th round, or a Ryan Leif in the 1st....Manning, is a game changer, and if we can lock in Wayne as well, look out....

I think going after Manning is a bad move. He will still demand a good amount of money and it is not a sure thing he is 100%. We don't have the line that Indy had in their championship run. Maybe when we can get some O lineman that can play an entire season I would hold off paying for a QB that has a serious neck injury.

IOW, a contender.

There isn't one of the ortho docs in my office that would let Manning play if they were making the decision. That being said, I'd love for the Fawks to spend a ton of money on him instead of a pass rusher that they need. It would be fun to watch the Smith Bros. end his season the first game they played. The Niners don't have any interest in him; they aren't even talking internally about him. They have an offer on the table for Smith anyway. I'd like for the Fawks to roll out the Brinks truck for Mario Williams too. His tackles and sacks stats have been going downhill since his big year in '07.
