ESPN is reporting that Manning has narrowed it down to Denver & Arizona with Denver slightly ahead. Maybe a way to up the $$ from other teams or maybe the fact that Denver is in the AFC West and his relationship with the GM and Coach.

damn.

"After at least 12 teams contacted Peyton Manning when he became a free agent, the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback has narrowed his options.

Only three Hall of Fame quarterbacks won a Super Bowl and then finished their career with another team -- Joe Montana, Joe Namath, and Johnny Unitas. Brett Favre will soon join this list and Peyton Manning, who led the Colts to the title in 2006, will someday accompany them.

The Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals, the first two teams Manning visited, are considered his two likeliest landing spots, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The Seattle Seahawks continue to try to arrange a meeting with Manning, according to sources, but so far they have been unable to do so.

Manning still could wind up meeting with the Dolphins, but indications are that Miami isn't as high on his list as Denver and Arizona."

The heads are scrambling trying to be the one who breaks the story.

Right now they're "seeing horns"

ok I got questions dammit.

1) why would Denver even think of Manning if you got the tebow kid?
2) Wtf is the Titans owner thinking when you have hasslebeck training a kid like locker, now he wants manning too? why?

I still say PM will be the fish qb in 2012 grin

Peyton Manning met with Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin and other staff members for roughly five to six hours Monday night, according to sources.

The meeting, the sources said, took place in Indianapolis, where the veteran quarterback played his previous 14 NFL seasons.

So Peyton Manning plans to continue playing, but Jeff MacGregor wonders what the first-ballot Hall of Famer has left to prove. Story

One source described it as a "good meeting" that focused on many of the same football topics that the quarterback discussed with the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals during the weekend.

Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman was part of the contingent that met with Manning, the sources said. Sherman was once part of the Texas A&M coaching staff as an assistant who recruited Manning out of Newman High in New Orleans. It was one of the few visits Manning made during the recruiting process in which he chose the University of Tennessee.

Manning still plans to visit with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday or Wednesday, sources said. Titans coach Mike Munchak will be joined by a select few Titans offensive staff assistants at the meeting. Munchak, a Hall of Fame guard, was a teammate of Manning's father, Archie, during the 1982 and 1983 seasons with the Houston Oilers.

Manning has continued to rehab his shoulder and neck and also will resume his throwing regimen -- most likely at Duke University -- while he analyzes his free-agent choices with no apparent deadline in place to make a decision, a source added.

The Dolphins will continue exploring other options when the new league year begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn is among those options, having played for Philbin when he was the team's offensive coordinator.

The Titans were preparing to make a major run at Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams, but the organization has shifted its focus to Manning, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

"I want Manning," Titans owner Bud Adams told The Tennessean on Sunday. "I'd love to see him in Titan blue after watching him so many years with the Colts. ... I want him. I am ready to do what it takes to get him aboard, and I think he'd be the guy to get us into the playoffs."

The Titans already have veteran Matt Hasselbeck, signed to a three-year contract last July, and Jake Locker, picked with the No. 8 overall selection in the 2011 draft. But Hasselbeck is due $5.5 million in salary this year after getting a chunk of his deal last season.

Manning on Sunday completed an exhaustive three-day road trip in which he is known to have visited with Denver and Arizona, the two teams that sources believe have emerged as the favorites for the free-agent quarterback.

Despite those sources' contention about the Broncos and Cardinals as favorites, Manning has not engaged either in contract negotiations.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs failed in their attempts to get Manning to visit their facilities and are no longer considered contenders for the quarterback, sources said.

Chuck, Chuck, Chuck....There is something rotten in Miami as no one wants to go there.

This Manning thing is fun to watch. PM is jetting all over the country talking to teams and all the guys who are "in the know" are guessing what he is going to do. I think it is save to say he wants to stay in the AFC as the only NFC team he has met with was AZ. It can't really be about money as PM has plenty of it, though I'm sure he wants to get paid. So, it comes down to organization and which team is closest to challenging for a Super Bowl. Location isn't an issue as PM can get on a private jet any time he wants. Which owner in the AFC is bold enough to sign him without really knowing his health issues? Obviously Bud Adams is, but I am holding out for the Baltimore Ravens. (BTW, I posted that here 24 hours BEFORE the Gasman on KJR came up with it last week. He must be a lurker here.)

John and Peyton are pals.
John's kid has attended Peyton's football camps.
John would like a real QB

Peyton would sell tickets in TN being a former Vol passer.
And he would guarantee a playoff run.

Supposedly Denver's in the lead on the backstretch.
Early yet.

I want the kid to succeed but.....
He will never be a pocket passer but he could learn much from PM.

Steve Young was able to become a productive NFL QB with a similar skillset.

wtf are they doing???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The Miami Dolphins have traded receiver Brandon Marshall to the Chicago Bears, the Bears announced Tuesday.

There's absolutely no way to dance around it: Miami took a major step back by dealing Brandon Marshall, writes James Walker. Blog

The Bears finally got their No. 1 wideout, but why the Dolphins dealt their main offensive weapon is puzzling, writes Matt Williamson. Story

According to league sources, Chicago will send its third-round pick in 2012 and 2013 to Miami for the Pro Bowl wideout.

Trying to clear out some room under the salary cap so they can wave a big wad of greenbacks under Peyton's nose ?

Well maybe the Dolphins were just trying to put to rest all the rumors about their owner & GM being idiots.

I'd say getting 2 3rd round picks is pretty good, I think there's no way Manning is going to the Dolphins now.

And WR's are some of the most overpaid players in the NFL. Miami traded a head case for a couple 3rd rounders.

over paid? without WRs you wouldnt have QBs... Marshall is every bit worth 2 3rd rounders, how many 3rd round WRs have recorded 5000 yards in the last 5 seasons?
