Think it's because Texas accounts for more than one-fourth of total U.S. refining capacity?
Good effort...but no.
It's the "free market", and that oil is going to the highest bidder, just like all of our domestic oil is doing now...we can't even afford "our" oil, that's why we export more than we import.
If it was about keeping it here, we could already do that.

I think you're missing my point entirely.
The U.S. exports 35,000 barrels of crude, unrefined oil per day. That figure jumps to 3.2 million barrels of refined petroleum products a day. That shows it's not just oil that's exported, but other refined products such as gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, kerosene and such chemical-industry feed stocks as ethylene, butane and propylene.
Due to the slow economy, gasoline consumption in the U.S. has dropped by over 8%, while it has risen in places like India by over 5%. If it was needed here, we could keep it here.

Think the gas and oil companies are any different, think again. They will rape and pillage whatever they can and leave us with the cleanup. It is disgusting what Corps get away with in this country.
