The Keystone pipeline has nothing to do with domestic oil production, or domestic gas prices.

Obviously, the oil produced from it will almost entirely be from Canada.

If the pipeline was intended to increase the supply here in America, then why must the pipeline reach the Gulf of Mexico?

The oil will not be stopping here...it's on its way to China.

It's the "free market", and that oil is going to the highest bidder, just like all of our domestic oil is doing now...we can't even afford "our" oil, that's why we export more than we import.

If it was about keeping it here, we could already do that.

I think you're missing my point entirely.

The U.S. exports 35,000 barrels of crude, unrefined oil per day. That figure jumps to 3.2 million barrels of refined petroleum products a day. That shows it's not just oil that's exported, but other refined products such as gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, kerosene and such chemical-industry feed stocks as ethylene, butane and propylene.

Due to the slow economy, gasoline consumption in the U.S. has dropped by over 8%, while it has risen in places like India by over 5%. If it was needed here, we could keep it here.

We will be nothing but a corridor for that product to get sold to the highest bidder overseas.
