They've got some problems in Sanford that started long before this incident.

In 2010, police waited seven weeks to arrest a lieutenant’s son who was caught on video sucker-punching a homeless black man.

In 2005, two security guards — one the son of a longtime Sanford police officer and the other a department volunteer — killed a black man they said was trying to run them over. Black leaders complained of a lackluster investigation. The guards ultimately were acquitted.

White Mississippi teen gets life sentence in black man's death

STARKVILLE, Mississippi (Reuters) - A white Mississippi teenager pleaded guilty on Wednesday to fatally running over a man with a truck because he was black, and received a life prison sentence for a crime the presiding judge said left "a great stain" on the southern state.

Deryl Dedmon, 19, received two concurrent life sentences for the racially motivated murder of 49-year-old James Craig Anderson, who died after being beaten and mowed down in a motel parking lot last year.

Dedmon's admission that he killed Anderson because of his race doubled the teen's penalty under the state's hate crime statute.

kidding aside....the same scenario is played out over and over again.....latest local incident is the black cop who foot-slams the hand-cuffed "perp's" head into the cement with his foot and is clearly caught on camera.....gets off aquitted. What?

I agree Andy. The interview I watched last night said the kid wasn't reported missing till the next day. Come on parents get a clue.

The boy in no way deserved to be shot. Lots of ways that could have been handled differently.

MARCH 26--The mother of Trayvon Martin has filed two applications to secure trademarks containing her late son’s name, records show.

Sabrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon,” according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton is seeking the trademarks for use on “Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin,” and other products.

The March 21 USPTO applications, each of which cost $325, were filed by an Orlando, Florida law firm representing Fulton.

Martin, 17, was shot to death last month during a confrontation with George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch captain. Martin, pictured above, was visiting his father’s home in Sanford, Florida when he was shot to death by Zimmerman, who has claimed that he was acting in self-defense.

Momma needs a new pair of shoes.

Maybe momma doesn't want anyone and everyone profitting from his death, or would like to use funds generated from t-shirt sales to aid in assuring the dude who shot her son is arrested.

The police released (leaked) more info today. Apparently it appears as though the shooter was reported to have been punched by Trayvon. We are never gonna actually know what happened. I do know, however, that I'm not gonna follow random kids out of the neighborhood while packing just cuz I don't like what the look like.

Does anyone know why this took a month to surface?

I read today that it only surfaced because the police leaked it. The police have had the info. regarding the original police report since it happened. The police department confirmed the leaked info. today, that the shooter had a fat lip and a cut on the back of his head.

Of course the right wing freak jobs will be calling out the "liberal media" for reporting the facts they have and not the evidence that the police have not yet turned over.

Others are gonna claim that it took so long because it was all made up after the fact...a coverup. I don't think that's likely but it's more likely than the "liberal media" spin.

No one but the shooter can explain why he followed the kid through the neighborhood, at some point got out of his vehicle and at some point shot the kid. We're never gonna actually know what went on. Cllearly, it would have went a whole lot better if the shooter wasn't so hell bent on making sure that the kid didn't get away. Since as he said,"They always get away with it."
