Where is the line drawn on self-defense? Young Trayvon was 5 inches taller than Zimmerman and probably more athletic. Maybe he had some fighting skills that some of his defenders don't have that he used to try and rip Zimmerman a new one. Ever think of that?

Once was peering thru a window of a all black church on ...not sure what street just off of Geary. The music was so beautiful stood there looking & listening for a good 20 mins before someone came out & grabbed me in w/ a PLEASE join us & so I danced & sang...never went back but gosh miss SF - what a blast I had there. That was probably the Baptist church on Hamilton Square. Was it right by Japan Town? If so, that's it.

Do you think the prosecution will be able to convince the jurors, beyond a reasonable doubt, Zimmerman chased Martin down and picked a fight? I don't. I think if she's able to get Zimmerman to plea down to a manslaughter charge, she'll feel pretty good about it. If not, he walks.
I'd be willing to bet on that.

I dunno...but that's what a trial is for, to hear the evidence and divine the facts, as best the jury can.
The "picked a fight" part is going to be in contention...the "chased him down" part is right there in the 9-1-1 call.
The confrontation may or may not have been about race (it's pretty clear to me that Zimmerman wouldn't have likely chased down you or me, Hank, had we been walking around with Skittles, he was clearly looking for black guys, since that's what the thieves he had seen had been), but he obviously had decided that Trayvon was a thief with no evidence whatsoever except that he was black and was walking down the street.
After deciding that he was a thief, he then confronted him, and there's no question about that.
There was a struggle, and an innocent kid was killed by Zimmerman with a gun. Also not in contention.
That looks a lot like manslaughter right there, no matter what happened between chasing him down and shooting him...and if there is any evidence that Zimmerman started the fight, then it sounds like murder.
Looking forward to hearing some facts.
Fish on...
Todd

Unfortunately, we'll never find out the "facts". We'll find out how the defense presents the case and we'll find out the prosecution side. Then we'll find out which of those "facts" the jury buys.

At this point, the "innocent kid" descriptor doesn't seem quite right. Todd spinning......a non-event. kid, troubled young man, Treyvon, any number of others are descriptive, but "innocent kid" just doesn't work if you want to be objective. Maybe the question to ask is, "Todd, would you volunteer to take Zimmerman's job?" I know I would be grateful if I was one of those neighbors, considering the frequency of break-ins, knowing that someone was watching out for my place and packed the heat to protect "us". I can hear it now though, "911? Hi, this is Todd again. I'm calling from a friend's phone. Mine is broken. About a half hour ago, I was calling the cops when the suspicious guy I was calling about attacked me. I barely got away. Good thing I had my phone to throw at him. No, sorry, I don't know what he looked like. He was wearing a hoodie. Hurry!"

Well gosh Slabby - I sure hope a Zimmerman moves into your neighborhood to protect you! Great to be protected by a psycho - just remember to check in w/ him 1st before you invite guest over - especially if they look like people he doesn't like the looks of.

First of all, you have seen my place....does it look or even seem like I would live in a gated community or anything similar? But you're welcome to come on by in the middle of the night and see whether or not my security is secure enough. If you can read and comply, you should be OK.....if you can't......well, I likely won't be very "neighborly".

I was just going off what you said. Remember the "kid" was a guest - but apparently someone neglected to report the guest to Zimmerman.

Hank, kinda trips me out - I was a witness to 3 murders while living in SF & I only lived there 5 years! Not the safest of places - yet according to him he has never called 911 on someone walking in his neighborhood. Don't think I would want to be "protected" by a psycho.
I've lived here 8 years now and have yet to witness a murder. I read about them, see the reporting on the news. But then again, I don't go to areas where they're likely to occur either. I've told you already why I haven't called 9-1-1 for suspicious people in my neighborhood. I'll tell you again. There's zero, no crime where I live. No burglaries, no break-ins, no shots fired. The people I see walking are walking their dogs or heading up the street to catch the bus. Non-suspicious looking folks. In my 8 years here I have seen exactly 3 police cars on my street. One for the scaffolding that collapsed on the house across the street that injured a few painters. Another when some drunk kid lit a M-80 at 4 AM. The other was passing through. That's not the case where Zimmerman lived. Lots of calls to the police over burglaries, break-ins and shots fired. Plenty of calls too for suspicious people.

SF is far from being a "dangerous" place.
If you want dangerous ... try sunnyside or yakima on a late friday night. Or phildephia.... or east chicago, maybe east LA
SF is from from being considered dangerous. Adventerous maybe ... dangerous, not hardly.
