Every day America continues to develop it's prime agricultural ground to accommodate it's exploding population. Less farm ground and more and more people. Many Americans are too lazy or don't have a place to raise their own food. It's all about convenience wrapped in plastic these days. The cattle ranchers love it. The price of beef is on a steady but steep climb. People need to eat.
When the fields are all but gone.........then what?

America becomes less obese?

I see your point..... What I hate to see farm land being consumed by urban sprawl. in my area there are vast areas that were built for the high-tech boom and a majority are vacant now. what is ironic is that you will see an abandoned business park and a new one will be built next door.........

I read that paving over and developing prime farm land is A-OK because our system of Capitalism will always most efficiently and cost-effectively meet the needs of society. I found myself thinking that is probably true so long as the only need society has is profit. Ever try eating money?

If you're in CA, all you have to do is dig a canal, divert water from the northern regions of the state and turn desert into farmland. It makes no difference that upwards of 60% of that water evaporates before it gets there. The important thing is we have cotton and cantaloupes for everybody.
