At ESPN’s 20th annual ESPY Awards, the San Francisco 49ers won the category for Game of the Year. The award was for the 49ers’ 36-32 NFC Divisional playoff win over the Saints, which had four lead changes in the final four minutes. Tight end Vernon Davis and linebacker Patrick Willis accepted the award for the 49ers.

The NFC Divisional playoff win will go down as one of the best wins and games played in 49ers franchise history. Who can forget the last two touchdowns of the game? The 28-yard touchdown run by Alex Smith that put the 49ers up 29-24 and the 14-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Davis that sealed the victory for the 49ers.

Just in case you missed it... grin

That must be why the award went to the Eaglet-Gigante game that year. wink

Game of the year for sure, the fact that SanFran was kind enough to not cover the spread made it even better..

Yeah..there's that. Did you get Little Ruthie to ship in some high-grade for that 1st round? I did pack some extra cash for it.

Yeah real stupid to get rid of a receiver with less than 20 receptions and 300 yards. Hell almost any receiver on the practice squad could get those kind of numbers, so why not save the money and play one of your young guys. They sure as hell can't do any worse.

yeah, 20 receptions with Jackson, what did he do the year before? if any reciever on the practice squad could have done it, Rice should have had 2000 yards last year... Williams healthy was a big azz threat, he proved that the year before last...

While he had a good year in 2010, lets not get carried away. 65 receptions and less than 800 yards in not great for a #1 receiver and only 2 TDs isn't setting any records either. As for Rice, I feel he is a waist of money as well, seeing as he hasn't played a full season in 3-4 years.

Also Sherman posted almost the exact same numbers in 2011 that Williams did in 2010. Except Sherman had Jackson so I guess that blows your theory about Williams problem being Jackson.

If you were Petey Rah-Rah, would you want to spend 3 mil for 18 catches and a TD?

i agree GV, but if you get Winslow with 800, Williams with 800, RIce with 800, and Baldwin with 800, thats a pretty damn productive recieving core, thats not including Obamanu, Miller, Tate, ect... our problems were the lockout IMO, i personally dont agree with signing Flynn, yes, i know he hasnt played yet here, but he did absoluetly nothing in GB with the exception of 1 game, with a team far better than ours... i see and hope Wilson does big things in Seattle, his attitude and heart are top notch...i dont see getting rid of Jackson as an option, because he is a reliable proven backup....starter not so much, but with more time, who knows...

Richard Sherman is a Cornerback, not a reciever, we dont not have a reciever with the last name Sherman on our team...

Hank- You are correct, that is why they cut him. Save some coin and give a couple of the young WR a chance. What do you got to lose? Can't put numbers much worse.
RH- You are right that would be a great group of WR, now if you can name the number of teams that have had 4 WR (including the TE) with 800 yds receiving in a year.

NE could have done it last year, they had 3, 2 of them were over 1300 yards each (Welker and Gronk), and Hernandez had almost 1000...

yes yes, apples and oranges i know, but its possible...

oh wait, Deon Branch has over (just over) 700 yards last year... so subtract 100 from drops, or what not, and NE would do it.. cake...

again, apples and oranges... i know...
