I decided to try bow hunting this year after being pestered by my friends. I was going to do late season deer and elk. I live in Mason Co. and was going for my deer here, but was wondering about elk.

I was thinking GMU 648 or 638. Is one better than the other? I would be tenting it and don't mind hiking, but was wondering where in those area(s) would be a good place to start. I am not expecting much being my first year but would like to see some or at least find a good place to pitch a tent. Thank you in advance for any help.

I am pretty excited to start and have a good range to practice on at KBH archery.
