I would say the real problem is that young men are more afraid than ever to admit when they are in over their head. They want to be an expert trailer driver with a big dick in a single day.
When I was supervising a crew I would ask the greenhorn to back the boat in at the appropriate time and he/she was always embarrassed flustered and acted like I was being a prick making them do it while we all watched and waited. My response was, “what better way to learn than trial by fire?” Its much easier to approach life as a learning experience rather than a competition. Embrace uncomfortable, pay attention, learn. Young people think they will just “know” how to trailer or figure it out because they have seen guys they look down on do it, its sad.
Its the Im gonna delude myself into thinking I am an expert by surrounding myself with retards and not actually learning from a mentor. Its the Im playing guide on my 10th day fishing because I have some even greener guys fishing with me attitude. Have some humility and enjoy learning new skills. Nobody is born elite but seems like some people think you are if you talk and dress right. These young ones these days are more shallow and insecure than ever and when they have a nice truck and boat and cant even trailer it they get extra sensitive.
In a few years you will probably see young men on facebook posting Go Pro videos of perfect trailering thinking thats what “real” men do.
