Rich doesn't have what it takes. Because he's never sat on the proverbial "great stump of introspection", he's completely missed that part of himself.

If Rich did have what it takes, he'd already be on the evening news being celebrated as that "real true hero & patriot" that he's imagined himself to already be (and without actually ever doing anything to earn that title I might add).
