I over-lap the backing and running ling about 1.5 inches and cover it with 8/0 tying thread (like your rapping a guide on a rod); then I slide a piece of braided mono (30 lbs. 3 inches long piece) over that connection and rap both ends. Then I coat it with Aqua Flex let dry for 30 minutes and you have a knot-less connection.
