Neither do I for certain other than the subduction plates have been constantly moving/grinding along for a couple months now.

However, by way of example, if you hold out your left hand palm down in front of you and slide your right hand, also palm down over the top of the left, and your right hand finger tips hit your left's knuckles and start to roll back under themselves, that is pretty much what is happening along the Juan de Fuca fracture zone/Cascadia subduction. When you start to resist that sliding motion by flexing your right fingers and suddenly let them slip back over the top of your left hand, that sudden release of stored energy is a simplistic example of what you see on Google Earth along the Juan de Fuca fracture zone that looks like saw teeth off our west coast and the likely source of past tsunamis here.
