Mallard, I owned a 16' Alaskan, it is a great boat. It runs very shallow water and fits in a lot of tight places because of its size. Easy to launch and load and tows great. Handles extremely well whether on plane or trolling. The drawbacks I found are not a lot of room inside (mine was a 1988, I don't know if the newer boats are different), shallow sides (my wife did not feel safe in the boat but it didn't bother me), with the almost flat bottom on it mine pounded in small chop (6"). All in all a great river boat.
