For me this would be bitter/sweet.

While it is great to have a season, they essentially went from catching 9% of a ESA stock to 15% of and ESA stock. I fail to find good fisheries management in that. Obviously the non-tribal harvesters can have some sort of season on 2% impact. Why do the tribes need a 13% impact to have one as well. I am not anti-tribal, just an honest question.

At last weekends fish an wildlife commission meeting, the North of Falcon pollicy was adopted. The language in the document does not specifically allocate a percentage of the Columbia River Chinook to commercials or recreationals dispite a push from the commercial gillnetters to get 50% in writing. That probably what this meeting will be about. There may also be some discussion about the use of tangle nets. It would be interesting to see if the commercials are pro or con on this.
