Chicken Liver is a good bait. Target the end of islands or eddy areas. I have seen fishermen do well, casting a rubber "sassy shad" minnow imitation below the dams. This lure acts like a disoriented minnow when worked well and the squawfish sit below the dams waiting for just that. Saw a guy one day catch 6 big squawfish in no time doing this. Also casting spinners is a good method. Blue fox size 3 or 4. Good thing about the last method is it works for so many species: Bass, walleye, steelhead, salmon and the squawfish, so if the squaws aren't biting, maybe something else will. Though I had a guy who swore he caught several salmon on chicken liver smile
