Hwy 18 is a good area and a short walk downstream will put you at the carbody hole which can be good. You can drive upriver about 6 miles and you'll come to Metzler's park, follow the trail to the river. Up the river another 1 1/2 miles is Flaming geyser park which has some nice holes to explore. You can hop upriver into the canyon and fish palmer/Kanasket state park or drive up the headworks road and find some of the nicest summer run water around.
