Another alternative to pouring and painting lead jig heads is to use solid brass beads. I tie all my jigs using brass beads and they work just fine. Using this method you can choose whatever hook you like too. I currently use the heavy wire Gamakatsu hooks or the extra strong Owner jig hooks. It really comes down to personal preference.
