Fished the Mosquito Bay/Kellet Bluff area for about a week for chinook. There were a few boats but I saw no fish. Did see a pod of Orcas and Dall's Porpoises. Caught a few crabs and the clamming was excellent in Wescott Bay. Weather was great, but rained on Monday 7/16 as we left.

Ran 2 downriggers. One at 100' and stacked at 80'. The other at 90' stacked at 70'. Large flashers and hootchies on the bottoms out 20' behind the boat and cut plug and whole herring up 20' and out 10'. Nobody home. Didn't fish bottom fish as ling cod was closed and the conservation folks don't want you to take fish from the protected (best) areas.

San Juan water is flat in the lee and there is no swell. I can see why people buy the cabin boats to cruise up there. My sled was ok for skiffing around in style, but it was limited in it's range and wet if you got caught in the wind. Time to upgrade to the Osprey or SeaSport 24.
